Dear Residents and Friends of Sullivan's Island: Spring is here and the Island is busy.  Soon we will have a number of guests on the Island, historical re-enactors to commemorate the 150th anniversary of the Civil War.  A full schedule of events will occur between April 9th-17th with April 12th being one of the busiest days.  We hope you can come to some or all of the historic events.

Monday, April 4, 2011 (7:30PM) Special Council 

Meeting will immediately follow regular monthly Committees of Council Meeting that starts at 6:00PM.

 

Thursday, May 5, 2011 (6:15PM-8:15PM) Special Council - Accreted Land 

Purpose:  Walking Tour of Zones 2 and 4 of Accreted Land.

Walk starts at Town Hall, 1610 Middle Street 

 

Friday, May 6, 2011 (12Noon - 5:00PM) Special Council - Accreted Land Management

Purpose:  Discussion of Zones 2 and 4 of Accreted Land. 

 

All meetings will occur at Town Hall, 1610 Middle Street

Community Notes

Road Improvements

SCDOT - Middle Street (St 22 1/2-12). Crews have moved to re-paving phase.  Please do not park on Middle Street from 7:00AM-5:00PM daily, until further notice.  Thank you for using extra caution in these work zones.

Recycling

Do you need a (blue) recycling container?  You may pick up one from Town Hall, 1610 Middle Street, from 8:00AM-5:00PM weekdays. (843) 883-3198

Yard Notes
 Article Subheading
  As you prepare your yards this Spring, keep
  these guidelines in mind:
  
 RIGHTS-OF-WAY- No plants, fences, structures  or obstructions are allowed in the right-of-way. 
 Use CLEAR plastic bags - 
 Place grass clippings & leaves in clear not black 
 bags.  Paper bags will be required after June.
 *   CUT limb sizes down - 4 feet or less
*   PACE yourself- Town Contractor, Suburban Disposal, can only pick up small piles of yard debris from each home each week.  Put out small piles each week to ensure it all gets picked up.  
*   CURB It- Yard debris is placed at the end of your curb on Tuesday evening.
  Contractors - Carry it away
If you hire a landscape contractor, the contractor must haul away the debris.  
NOTE: Suburban Disposal does not pick up yard debris on vacant lots or on lots where it appears a contractor has worked.
