A CONSERVATIVE VOICE

WHY NOW?

I could fill this newsletter with why Obama should not be re-elected. Despite all that, until now, I thought the guy was a pretty savvy politician. So I wondered: why is he throwing his best punches fifteen months before the election? Then I realized: his best punch is his only punch. Obama, as Grand Leader of the socialist agenda, has been exposed for what he is - a one trick pony - and for what it is, an intellectually void and morally bankrupt philosophy. When even the Black Congressional Caucus seems ready to abandon him, the game is up. Obama can't run on his record, and he can't run on hope and change. All the pony can do is rabble-rouse about the rich paying their fair share. That is already running thin with independents, so he has to bet on folks on the dole to get him reelected.  The socialist agenda and its Grand Leader are low hanging fruit ready for picking.

The question is whether Republicans will take advantage of this opportunity. Chances seem good GOP power brokers will try to make Romney the candidate. At best, we end up with another Nixon. Don't get me started on what a disaster he was.

Republicans need to know that unless they start solving problems instead of worrying about their reelection, they will be replaced with conservative, non-politician leaders. Herman Cain may just be the model. I spent an afternoon reading about him and then browsing his website. He doesn't address my biggest concern, his involvement with the Federal Reserve. However, take a look at this. He talks about being "in the belly of the beast" and knowing how to keep the Fed in line. At least that is a start. Everything else seems right in line with what conservatives have been yelling about at Tea Party rallies for the past two years.

A critical shift is occurring, and Cain seems to get it. Grumpy old men and women in the conservative movement are seeing young people getting a bit grumpy as well. Our kids and grandkids are asking themselves, why have we planted so much and harvested so little? Why do we earn wages, only to put them in a purse with holes in it? These questions Haggai asked 2,500 years ago are just as relevant today. Front and center now for young people are the additional questions, "why can't I get a job?" and "will I ever get out from under the debt the Boomer generation created?" Herman Cain seems to be resonating with them, and I like that. He may be just the right guy to pick the low hanging fruit.

Here in Colorado, caucuses will start in February. Be there or be square. You have to be a delegate to your county assembly to be a delegate at the district and state assemblies. Don't let yourselves be pushed out of the game like many of you were in 2010. I will be at my local caucus just to see how much the GOP really wants to "reach out to independents."

Keep the faith,
