IMPEACHABLE OFFENSES
"The President ... shall be removed from Office on Impeachment for, and Conviction of, Treason, Bribery, or other high Crimes and Misdemeanors." Constitution of the United States, Article II, Section 4. We find ourselves today watching once again as President Obama uses men and women in the military and their families as political pawns. Last winter it was during the budget debate. This time it is over the debt ceiling. This is disgusting beyond words. Put aside for a moment whether we are $14.3 trillion of $100 trillion in debt or whether Secretary Geithner is being truthful when he says we don't have enough money to service our existing debt. Put aside the $700 billion we will spend this year on welfare programs and the abysmal, if not immoral, results of those welfare programs. Put aside billions in waste in other federal agencies and programs.
The President is Commander in Chief of our armed forces. Our military is deployed in three undeclared wars. Presumably Obama has ordered them into battle in furtherance of his sworn duty to preserve, protect and defend the Constitution. Yet he threatens they will be the first to suffer if the debt ceiling is not raised. Those men and women don't belong to a union. They look to their Commander in Chief for leadership. A leader does not sell out those he leads. Clinton was impeached for violating an oath to tell the truth. Selling out our military will violate Obama's duty to them and his oath as president. I can think of few higher crimes.
If a single soldier, sailor or airman is not paid in full, I say bring impeachment charges against Obama the next day. I understand his impeachment in the House will be a futility, because he will be acquitted by Democrats on a party-line vote in the Senate. Despite that, we owe no less to those who are willing to die for us, and to their families. Call, write, e-mail your representatives in Washington. Tell them to prepare the charges.
Keep the faith,
