GOT BALLS?

I had a great time in both the Sangre de Christo and Sarvis Creek Wilderness areas this past week.  I arrived home to see video of Obama, Biden, and John Boehner playing golf.  It was so cute, the three of them in their shorts having fun together.  The only thing missing was Romney rounding out the foursome.  I am sure they were resting up for the hard work we sent them to Washington to do.  Getting re-elected?  No, that's not it.  Oh yes, I remember, stopping the financial madness.  I thought I was going to get sick to my stomach.  That my friends, is the result of years of Republican, "pay your party dues and get promoted" politics.  Mediocrity makes it to the top. When we talk about balls, we don't mean golf.  What happened to our lives, our fortunes, and our sacred honor?  We can and we must do better.  We'll remember in November, 2012, hey, hey, hey, good-by.

On a more positive note, the Supreme Court voted to rein in the class action madness.  Good work!  That is one less link in the anchor chain hanging around the neck of American business.  Hey, Congress, take a look at Article III, Section 2. It provides in part "In all the other cases before mentioned, the supreme court shall have appellate Jurisdiction, both as to Law and Fact, with such Exceptions, and under such Regulations as the Congress shall make."  In other words, Congress could have removed this link in the anchor chain years ago.  We gave Congress the power to control the federal courts by making Exceptions and Regulations.  Congress can tell the trial lawyers to go to hell.  Congress can and should completely revise the Federal Rules of Civil Procedure.

Start by doing away with federal class action suits completely.  Adopt the British system for attorneys fees.  There the loser in any civil case pays the winner's attorneys fees and costs.  Cuts down on frivolous suits? You betcha! Limit compensatory damages in federal court as many states have.  When punitive damages are awarded, they should go to the federal treasury to pay down our debt, not some lawyer's pocket.  Eliminate federal court jurisdiction in the entire morass of federal laws impacting the private workplace.  For that matter, eliminate all those federal laws completely and leave regulation of the private workplace where it belongs, and where it was until the 1930's, in the States.  There is a lot of work Congress could be doing to get our economy back on track, and playing golf with the President isn't anywhere on the list.

Instead, they spent this past week debating our latest undeclared war.  Guys, take a look at Article I, Section 8 which gives you the exclusive power to declare war.  Friday, in an amazing show of conflicting messages, the House voted not to support Obama's war in Libya, and then turned around and voted not to cut off funding.  Riddle me that batman.  We have been sold out by political hacks whose re-election is more important than our next generation.

On the brighter side, I caught up with email.  Thanks to all of you who write, who send me ideas, challenge the positions I take, and who are obviously still in the fight.  One of the best was a link to an interview with Edmund Vieira.  This is a long clip, forty-four minutes, but well worth the time.  It is a great discussion of why "brain-dead political deadlock" and the lack of political will in Congress makes it so critical to reassert States Rights.  This is particularly true as we face the rapidly approaching collapse of our currency. Vieira lays out a logical alternative for States to have in place and ready to use when the federal financial cart tips over.

Geithner, bless his heart, lectured Greece on controlling spending, and reining in the entitlement mentality.   Why doesn't he understand that the same lessons apply right here in America?  The rest of the world does.  Instead of ranting about how not raising the debt ceiling will destroy our international credit and credibility, he should be encouraging Congress not to put us deeper in debt.  That is the only way we will reestablish both credit and credibility.

Well, it is good to be back.  Keep the faith,
