 Remember this ^ cute little button? The one you've seen in every issue of The Pride Cartoon E-News for the last 2 years? The one that asks for donations for the 18 feral cats that I inherited when I didn't have a dime to feed them?
The ones that eat only because I scrape together enough to share? Well you can't use it anymore. PayPal says so. Although the law says my cats can accept donations so long as I state, in every place this button appears, that I am not a 501(c)3 organization, and the donation is not tax deductible, and so long as I pay tax on any sum they get.... all of which I have done responsibly, PayPal insists on a tax exempt ID# in order to allow a donation button to exist within their system. Because of course I don't have that, they made me take the button off. (PS: This is the same PayPal that helped me make the button, post it and link it in every page of my website over the course of about (5) FIVE tech support sessions, and never asked this question.) Anyway, now if anyone wants to donate they have to buy a product. Which we don't mind; we love to see our stuff go to good homes. We just think it's wrong to dictate how people give from the goodness of their hearts. But we send our thanks to all our friends, and fans, and donors, and guests and everyone who helps make it possible for our feral cats to continue here, and to everyone everywhere who helps animals.

Valentine's Day may be Johnny's favorite holiday. Because he's the love of my life, my immortal beloved, he completes me, he had me at bellow... and we spend the whole day locked in an ardent embrace (well-fighting over my hair, if the truth be known. O, wait. That's every day...)

How Do I Love Thee (Cat)? Let Me Count The Ways.... 
Someone recently asked me if I love all my cats "the same." Of course I love all my cats an equal amount. But no. Not "the same." The relationships I've shared with cats have been as diverse and unique as my human relationships have been, and in many ways are similar to them. The love you have for your sister is a totally different kind of love than you have for your son, or your friend, or your mother. A cat, depending on the time and place he or she fills in your life, personality and other factors, can be like a sister, or a son, a good friend, or an elderly uncle to you. And the love is just as strong. My first cat was called Pansy, and she was my sister. We adopted her from a man in our building whose cat had had a litter of tabby kittens. I was six years old. Pansy was six weeks. She was adorable. In the first year of her life, we were little girls together. We played silly games, peek-a-boo, hide and seek, ran all over the house, and slept together in a heap. She was tiny and timid, and followed me all around like a little shadow; a little sister.
But cats mature faster than children, and Pansy grew up before I did. When Pansy was about a year old..... (continued...)
