Remember this cute little button? The one you've seen in every issue of The Pride Cartoon E-News for the last 16 months? The one that asks for donations for the 18 poor feral cats that I inherited when my mother died? The ones that eat only because I manage to scrape together enough to share with them? Well you can't use it anymore. PayPal says so. Although I followed the advice of legal experts and accountants who said my cats can accept donations so long as I state, in every place this appears, that I am not a 501(c)3 organization, and the donation is not tax deductible, and so long as I pay tax on any sum they get.... all of which I have done responsibly, PayPal insists on a tax exempt ID#. Without one, they made me take the button off. (PS: This is the same PayPal that helped me make the button, post it and link it in every page of my website in the course of five tech support sessions, and never asked this question.) Anyway, now if anyone wants to donate they have to buy a product. Which is fine; we love to see our stuff go to good homes... we just hate to dictate how people give from the goodness of their hearts. But all past donations are safe in the tummies of our ferals, in the form of tuna and kibble, and tonight they are tucked away in the fresh straw provided by the NYC Feral Cat Initiative in the triple-insulated shelters made for them by Ashot K in the safety of our back yard. Thanks to all our friends and fans and donors, and everyone everywhere who helps cats.

DESIGNER HOLIDAY GIFTS

We are just amped to introduce our 2011 line of holiday gifts and cards at our new Zazzle.com shop, The White Cat Co. "The Twelve Cats of Christmas" designer collection is inspired by the song "The Twelve Days of Christmas" wherein on each of the 12 days before Christmas, "my true love sent to me..." some wild animal or unruly mob. Our designs replace each day's gift with cats - much preferable, we think, to the cacophony of noisy birds and mayhem in the song. I mean, if he was really my true love, shouldn't he have sent cats? And since cats have their own way of doing things, the festivities are not what you expect! 
When finished the full set will include 12 Cats Drumming, 11 Cats Piping, 10 Cats a-Leaping, 9 Kitties Prancing, 8 Manx a-Milking, 7 Swats (No Swimming!), 6 Cats a-Laying, 5 Golden Cats, 4 Calling Cats, 3 French Cats, 2 Tortoise Shell Cats, And a Persian in a Pear Tree! We're still working furiously to finish the line in time for Christmas, and make each design available on a variety of gift items. The designs we  have so far (shown here) are available right now on cards, mugs and tree ornaments. But... here's the beautiful part: on Zazzle.com any design can be put on any item! They have shirts, mugs, bags, hats, sneakers, skateboards (!) .... OMG, a boatload of things, so we can take requests! For instance, Aunt Betty wanted her favorite, Two Tortoise Shell Cats, on a sweatshirt. We were able to make and order it within an hour! So if you see a design you like but it's not on the product you want, don't wait for it to appear. Write! We'll make it for you immediately.
