IF YOU HAVEN'T PARTICIPATED IN THIS PROJECT YET...
There is still time.

Join with me and other researchers who are literally using your data right now to answer questions and to find out what your observations mean when combined with other observations across the region.

As always, please be sure to record the last date there were NO "breaking leaf buds" as well as the first date that YES, you saw "Breaking leaf buds." The NOs are important to capture because they help us zero in on when a life stage, like leaf out, begins.

Greetings!

You're part of a select group of Nature's Notebook observers that has been invited to observe 9 tree species in your area. We are looking at leaf-out as a sign of spring, in real time.

The ideal time to take observations for this project is right now, and this short window of opportunity will end next month.

Here's a quick summary of the tree data collected so far... (Click on the graphs for a full-screen view of them.)

If you're already observing one of these species - thank you!

If you haven't, there is still time!

Please observe one or more individual trees from this list of 9 species today

To participate, just add the species you want to track to your Species List in your Nature's Notebook account, and start observing.

I'll send you another update on our progress in 2 weeks. Let's see how many more observations we can gather in the meantime. Thank you for your help!

Sincerely,

Executive Director, USA-NPN

PS: If possible, please observe your tree(s) every 2 to 4 days this spring.
