Helen S. Atter, Esq

Helen will be based in our Ponte Vedra Beach office focusing on business law, sports and entertainment law, intellectual property, employment law, and non-profit organization law.
 
Helen S. Atter graduated from Florida State University - B.A. (cum laude) and University of Florida - J.D.   Helen was admitted to the Bar in 1981 (Florida and U.S. District Court, Middle District of Florida).  Helen will serve as the Managing Partner of the Ponte Vedra Beach office.

Helen joins the firm after 22 years with the PGA TOUR  and the World Golf Foundation.  Her legal and business work with these organizations spanned the United States and dealt with state, national, and international matters.

In 1988, Helen became Associate General Counsel of the PGA TOUR.  While at the PGA TOUR, she was responsible for trademark and intellectual property protection, documentation of television contracts and TPC acquisitions, employment law, employee relations, and labor union matters.   As Vice President of Human Resources for the PGA TOUR and TPC Network, employment and ERISA matters fell under her areas of responsibility.  She also served as Vice President of Corporate Compliance for the PGA TOUR. 

In March 1997, while still employed with the PGA TOUR, Helen assumed the role of Vice President of Legal Affairs for the World Golf Foundation which includes the World Golf Hall of Fame, The First Tee, and GOLF 20/20.  She ran all legal and business affairs, including their business systems and human resource matters.  She was responsible for licensing, TV and special events, insurance, risk management, contract negotiations, intellectual property protection, IMAX negotiations, and Hall of Fame exhibitry negotiations and protections.  In addition, she worked closely with a variety of state and local governments, including maintenance, reporting and compliance with bond issue requirements.

Prior to working at the PGA TOUR and World Golf Foundation, Helen spent 4 years in private practice.  She also served as Counsel for 1st American Title Co., and President of 1st American Title of Jacksonville, running  two offices in Jacksonville, and offices in Orange Park and Palm Coast, Florida. 

Helen is actively involved in the community and serves as a board member for several organizations including THE PLAYERS Championship Village and Fleet Landing.
