We deployed a crew of 12 to the Duluth area to assist in both commercial and residential disaster restoration, working along with nine other ServiceMaster franchises from Wisconsin, Illinois, Iowa and Minnesota.
In Carlton County, MN alone, the estimated damage to public and private property has passed $135 million. Public infrastructure damage is estimated at up to $110 million. A third of the county's 12,500 homes have been assessed and so far damage has exceeded $19 million. Businesses and crops sustained at least $5 million in losses. Long term recovery is now the focus.
Drought Persists Across Southern Wisconsin
The drought of 2012 continues across the southern portion of Wisconsin. Incredibly, Madison has experienced the driest June ever with just over .30 inches last month. Milwaukee has been dry with just under an inch of precipitation during June. July promises not to be any better in terms of precipitation.
Northern Illinois, Central and Northern Wisconsin have seen more rainfall so far in 2012, but there has been practically no rain this month along the I-94 corridor from Madison to Milwaukee, Wisconsin. It appears the drought will become stronger and water restrictions will be put in place during July.
