Support Wisconsin Libraries
Issue: 13
   April - June 2012
Greetings!

GrOverDrive Advantageeetings from the Milwaukee County Federated Library System !

Downloadable eBooks and audiobooks continue to grow in popularity with library patrons in Milwaukee County.

In order to try to cut down on the waiting time for these materials, the Library Directors Advisory Council passed an initiative on May 3 to enroll in the OverDrive Advantage program. This initiative, via a pooling of financial resources by MCFLS member libraries, will result in the purchase of additional copies of the most "in demand" titles that are found in the popular statewide collection and make these additional copies available for the exclusive use of Milwaukee County patrons.

While still enthusiatic participants in the Wisconsin Public Library Consortium (WPLC), the Director's Council decided that they wanted to augment the statewide holdings in order to decrease the waiting time of Milwaukee County patrons for this popular service

We expect orders via the Advantage program to begin in June and continue throughout the year.

Thank you for your continued support of public libraries in Milwaukee County !

Sincerely,

Jim Gingery

Director
Milwaukee County Federated Library System

OVERDRIVE DIGITAL BOOKMOBILE COMING TO
THE MILWAUKEE COUNTY ZOO ON JUNE 13TH

Get a Hands-On Experience with OverDrive

MCFLS Logo

On Wednesday, June 13th the library systems of Waukesha and Milwaukee counties will co-host Overdrive's Digital Bookmobile at the Milwaukee County Zoo.   The digital bookmobile will be on the Zoo grounds between 10 am and 4 pm.

This event will give you a great opportunity to have a hands on experience with the various devices that you can use to read/listen to Overdrive content, as well as videos on how to use Overdrive.  Interactive computer stations will also give you an opportunity to search Wisconsin's Digital Library and sample eBooks, audiobooks, music, and video from the collection.

The Digital Bookmobile is a community outreach vehicle for public libraries to promote downloadable eBooks, audiobooks, music, and video. Developed inside a 74-foot, 18-wheel tractor-trailer, the nationally touring vehicle is a high-tech update of the traditional bookmobile that has served communities for decades.

More information about the bookmobile can be found at: http://www.digitalbookmobile.com/

NEW OVERDRIVE WEBSITE NOW AVAILABLE
Wisconsin's Digital Library Changes made April 16th

The Wisconsin Digital Library website got a new look on April 16th! The main page now has a much cleaner appearance and the search choices along the left side are simpler to use.

Although the look and feel has changes, the new redesign still uses the same address as before: http://dbooks.wplc.info.

A brand-new login process is also in place: you can start typing in your library or municipality name and the form continually autofills until your library is listed. The library will be clearly linked with our system, but the system name is no longer needed for the log in.
