2011 MCFLS SYSTEMWIDE YOUTH PROGRAMMING
Youth servicesIn 2011 over 145,000 kids, teens and families enjoyed one of 7000 events offered by a Milwaukee County library.  These programs range from story time, to tie dye, to author visits, to writer's workshops, to video game tournaments, to Japanese Tea Ceremonies and everything in between.

These amazing programs offer the opportunity to spend time with your children, meet your neighbors, and experience a fun event.  Library programs are generally free and offered at various times during the week (including evenings and weekends).

If you haven't seen what's going at your local library lately, check out their website and see what great events are being offered!

2012 MILWAUKEE BUCKS LIBRARY READING CHALLENGE
MCFLS Logo Another successful season!

We would like to thank all the participants who took part in the Milwaukee Bucks Library Reading Challenge for 2012.  Once again, it was a very successful season for everyone involved.

Nearly 500 participants through 93 libraries statewide took part in the 2012 reading challenge.

The Milwaukee Bucks, The Northwestern Mutual Foundation and the Milwaukee County Federated Library System join forces to offer the program each year.  The purpose of the reading challenge is to promote literacy and library usage by youth in Milwaukee and statewide communities.

Students are given points for each page read in books, magazines and newspapers. Once a goal has been reached for a specific number of pages, the student will receive a voucher that will entitle them to one free Bucks game ticket, and the opportunity to purchase additional tickets at a discount.

Later this month the Bucks will host all-star readers, parents, and library personnel at the "Read to Achieve" games with the Bucks; and in conjunction, randomly selected all-star readers will be part of the Bucks Pregame High Five Tunnel and Kourtside Kids, as well as be formally recognized at halftime.

For more information on the Milwaukee Bucks Reading Challenge and how to participate next year, call (414) 286-3520.  Thanks once again to all our participants!
