Greetings!

(Seasons) Greetings from the Milwaukee County Federated Library System (MCFLS) !

As you probably know, the demand for public library services and materials has never been greater. Public libraries in Milwaukee County, although faced with budget challenges, are doing an excellent job in meeting patrons' informational and recreational needs.

The combined circulation for all public libraries in Milwaukee County is approaching 8,000,000 items in 2010 and the number of holds placed by patrons for materials in our system is the highest ever - approximately 1,200,000 in 2010.

This level of circulation activity and movement of materials from community-to-community requires an efficient delivery system.  We are proud of the consolidated sorting and delivery service which was initiated in January of 2010 through a contract with Action Logistics, LLC.  The Action Logistics sorting and delivery team has consistently met the contractual standard of a one-day turnaround of materials from pick-up to completed delivery. This means library materials have spent a minmum amount of time in the delivery process and a maximum amount of time in patrons' hands.

We will continue to strive in 2011 for the most efficient sorting/delivery service we can possibly achieve.

Thank you for your continued support of libraries and the Milwaukee County Federated Library System.

Sincerely,

Jim Gingery
Director
