Kenosha Running Club April 2010
Greetings!

Spring is in the air, the birds are chirping, the flowers are blooming and the grass is green, green, green.  If you're looking forward to making some changes in your routine in get in even better shape for the summer, then you won't want to miss our upcoming meeting on April 13th at The Lincoln Park Oribiletti Center, 6900 - 18th Avenue.  As ususal, 6 p.m. fun run/7 p.m. meeting.  We will have a special guest, Kim Brandes, Certified Yoga Instructor, Yoga for Life.   Kim will lead us in a 30 minute yoga class.    Kim came to one of our meetings last summer at Southport Beachhouse and lead us in a yoga class and we're so glad that she's willing to come back - especially as much as some of us were whining and groaning - I know, I was one of them!   Be prepared for a great group run, food, a little meeting and a great wind down of yoga strengthening and stretching.  Want more information about Kim or her classes? check out her website www.kimsyogaforlife.com.

If that's not enough new for you, in May we'll be meeting on the 11th at Sports Physical Therapy & Rehab Specialists, S.C. located at 3701 80th Street. Our special guest speaker will be Justin Fedie, PT, MPT, Physical Therapist. You can find out more information about Justin and Sports Physical Therapy & Rehab Specialists, S.C., at their website www.sptrs.com

All this just in time to usher us in to the best time of year .... fall marathon training.  This is bound to be a great summer whatever your goals!

April 10th "KRC Hosted Run" for WI Marathon
7 a.m. at Kenosha Museum

Just a reminder of this weekend's opportunity to be an ambassador of our fair community and the Kenosha Running Club. Many Wisconsin Marathon entrants will be coming to run portions of the marathon course and might need locals and pace groups to steer them around. It's a wonderful chance to meet some new running buds, ...show the folks what a friendly bunch we are and show off our beautiful city as well. Maybe we can even drag them to the coffee shop for a cup or two. We'll be meeting in the Kenosha Museum parking lot at 7:00 am (but please park along the streets as the museum will be open prior to many of our finish times).

If you wish, bring pace signs to help newcomers find a group to join.   (nothing fancy - just a sheet of paper you can throw away as you begin your run).  The plan is to take our normal route around Simmons Island up to Carthage and back.  Anyone who wishes to continue on past the first loop north and south can continue south along the course to their preferred turn around point.   There will be water somewhere on the course going north, but the location has not been confirmed - anyone going the distance should stash or wear their own bottles.   Here's a link to the Marathon Course Map just in case you need it.   http://wisconsinmarathon.com/CourseMaps.html

Let's have a great turn out of the Best Running Club in the USA ---- we NEED all of you to come out --- no one is too slow --- NO, NOT EVEN YOU!

MC200 Aid Station

WE'RE ON FACEBOOK!!!

Have you checked out our Facebook Group yet?   We want you to stay "IN THE KNOW" and we DON'T want anyone to be bothered by all the e-mail responses generated in the past.

Facebook is turning out to be a great way to stay in touch about group running plans, meeting new running friends, posting meeting information and hopefully, posting our newsletters... we'll see how that works since I've not yet done it.

Please feel free to post your race information, interesting training links, and group discussions on the site.  Let's see how much Facebook can work for us.  Your feedback is welcome.

Special Olympics May 1st

May 1st is the Special Olympics Annual Track Meet at Case High School in Racine, WI.  If you've never volunteered for a Special Olympics event in the past, now is your opportunity.  They always need volunteers and you won't be disappointed - your heart will be touched by the courage and integrity of these athletes.   Special Olympics is near and dear to our club and we support the Southeastern chapter with much of our Club's yearly profits, BUT they need more than just our money.  They need us!!!!  You can volunteer by contacting Troy Anderson through the e-mail link above under "volunteer now".
