FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

OWN THE WATER: 1995 JET SKIŽ 900ZXi

RIDING POSITION: Operator/passenger, sit-down
MARKET POSITIONING: Recreational personal watercraft

The all-new 900ZXi heads up the next generation of JET SKIŽ personal watercraft from Kawasaki, the segment's leading watercraft manufacturer for 22 years. With 100 horsepower on tap, this new 891cc, triple-cylinder craft will own the water.

Boasting 732 pounds of thrust, the latest JET SKI watercraft flagship is propelled by a motor with a super-low 5.5:1 compression ratio for superior reliability. It has a trio of 38mm carburetors fed by a pair of fuel pumps, efficient eight-petal reed cages, and a reliable digital ignition system.

The 900ZXi's radical new three-cylinder motor has been engineered to be as smooth and quiet as it is powerful. A 120-degree crankshaft gives the motor perfect balance while the new rubber mounting materials further decrease vibration to make long rides a pleasure. The large, rigid waterbox, huge flame arrestor, water-jacketed exhaust system, thick crankcase walls, and rear-mounted exhaust outlet with rubber flap conspire to deaden sound output and also make for a friendlier ride.

Putting this power to the water is a new jet pump design, placed well toward the rear of the craft to provide great forward drive in choppy water. It has a durable three-blade, stainless steel, varied-pitch impeller to offer consistent performance. A Variable Electric Trim System lets the rider adjust the attitude of the boat for different conditions by moving the jet nozzle up and down. A button on the left handlebar and easy-to-read gauge make "trimming" the craft a snap.

Being the leader of  Kawasaki's next-generation JET SKI watercraft line, the 900ZXi takes to the water with a brand-new V-shaped, SMC hull. It offers a drier ride with its "anti-spray ridges" built into the bow, more precise turning and high-speed stability, and better wave-absorbing ability than any previous model.

In addition to the trim level gauge, the 900ZXi comes with a speedometer, a tachometer, a fuel gauge, and dual mirrors. The final, high-tech touch on this craft is the unique theft-deterrent system. To prevent unauthorized use of the craft, a special waterproof ignition switch is utilized with a magnetic "key."

With wave-pounding performance from its all-new three-cylinder motor and hull, along with a host of other intelligent features, the 1995 Kawasaki JET SKI 900ZXi will do nothing less than own the water.

JET SKIŽ 900ZXi TECHNICAL HIGHLIGHTS
ENGINE
Overall: Three-cylinder, 891cc, triple-carbed powerhouse has a 120 degree crank which features complete primary and secondary balance and evenly spread firing intervals to offer the smoothest motor on the water. In addition to these power-producing specs, great thought has gone into making this new-generation engine quiet as well.

Cylinder head: One-piece head with machined combustion chambers features wide squish bands to increase turbulence in the combustion chambers, maintain consistent volume, and help control detonation.

Carburetion: Three Keihin CDK 38mm carbs, equipped with dual fuel pumps and velocity stacks supply the fuel charge.

Reed induction: For the ultimate in performance, a crankcase reed system with eight-petal reed cages are employed. Reed inserts also reduce turbulance for immediate throttle response.

Crankcase: To reduce weight, increase rigidity, and stifle noise, the one-piece cast aluminum block is quite compact, yet features ultra-thick walls throughout.

Corrosion resistance: To resist corrosion, most aluminum engine parts are painted gray and clear-coated.

Water-jacketed exhaust: To insulate noise and provide the ultimate in reliability, the exhaust pipe, chamber, and manifold have water jackets.

Water box:  To reduce noise, a large, rigid aluminum waterbox muffler is used.

Flame arrestor: To cut down on intake noise, a generous flame arrestor is under the hood.

Exhaust outlet: To reduce noise, exhaust gases are expelledthrough an outlet in the stern which is covered by a rubber flap.

Rubber mounting: To go along with the balance of the three-cylinder motor, the material and volume of the rubber is different than twin-cylinder JET SKIŽ watercraft.

Ignition: New digital CDI system works in conjunction with a temperature sensor which limits engine speed to 3500 rpm anytime the cooling water temperature rises above 95 degrees Celsius.

Rev limiter: To preserve the motor from over-revving, rev limiter kicks in at 8000 rpm.

JET PUMP
Pump location: To reduce cavitation and consequential loss of drive in choppy water, pump is located far toward the rear of the craft.

Impeller: Varied-pitch three-blade stainless steel design  puts the power in the water and reduces cavitation.

Drive shaft: Shaft diameter, sealed bearing and damper are same as 750-series craft, but shaft coupling threads have been enlarged 4mm to handle increased loads

Electric trim control: To help compensate for varying rider weight and water conditions, the jet pump's nozzle can be electrically adjusted to trim the attitude of the boat.

HULL
Overall: A V-shaped hull with 22.5 degree deadrise reduces wave shock, providing a smooth ride in choppy water while the SMC hull incorporates a liner bonded inside with polyurethane foam in between for superior strength and rigidity.

Anti-spray strips: To help reduce spray, unique anti-spray ridges are built into the bow.

Sponsons: For the ultimate in high-speed stability, sponsons are located at rear of hull.

OTHER
Gauges: The 900ZXi features a speedometer, a tachometer, a fuel gauge, and a nozzle trim angle indicator.

Throttle lever: Replacing the thumb throttle on previous JET SKI watercraft, the lever is a trigger-type unit. It still resides on the right side handlebar.

Mirrors: Dual rear-view mirrors are standard.
Ignition switch: To prevent unauthorized use of the craft, a special, waterproof ignition switch with a magnetic key is utilized.
