New Method for Applying Customer Specific Quantity Break Pricing

DB Distributor has historically offered a number of methods for offering quantity break pricing and pricing that could vary by customer.

In the Item Master, quantity breaks and pricing could be established for stock items.  This pricing would apply to all customers.  Alternatively, a Customer Specific Item could be set up with quantity breaks and pricing that would only apply to that customer.  However, if you routinely sell stock items that have quantity break pricing and also want to offer varying discount levels based upon the customer, creating customer specific items might not be practical.

A third method involves Pricing Tables that are triggered by the combination of a Customer Price Category (stored in the customer master) and an Item Class (stored in the item file). The table could be used to automatically set pricing based upon a discount from List Price, a Mark up from Cost, or a desired Gross Profit.  When using the discount from list option, the discount set for each quantity was applied only against the Base Price stored in the item master.  You could offer varying discounts based upon quantity breaks, but the breaks would have to be defined in the Pricing Table.  Depending upon how many variables of quantity breaks you typically have, this could result in a great deal of file maintenance.

This new feature enhances the Pricing Tables to have the option to set a single percentage discount by Customer Pricing Category and apply it to the Quantity Break Pricing already stored in the Item Master
.

DemandBridge would like to thank Performance Business Forms for their participation in the development of this new pricing feature.

This Pricing Table will apply to any Item that has an Item Class of 010 when ordered by a customer than has an "A" in the Customer Price Category in their Customer Master.
The Price Category is stored in Tab 2 of the Customer Constant Data Panel.

The new QB option in the "Calculation Method" field will apply the discount entered (in this case 30%) against the specific price shown in the Quantity Break Pricing Table in the Item Master. For instance, if the order quantity was between five and ten thousand, a 30% discount would reduce the $19.48 per M price to $13.64 per M.

(One additional note.  Pricing at the "Lot" level will trump any other pricing mechanism.)
