European Parliamentary Election Responses

CaSE wrote to all political parties in the UK in advance of the 4th June elections asking them to set out their EU science and engineering policies covering research, skills, innovation and evidence-based policymaking. Read the responses and manifesto commitments from the Conservatives, Labour, Liberal Democrats, UKIP, Greens, SNP and Plaid Cymru.

CaSE will be sending a briefing on EU science and engineering policy to all newly elected MEPs after the elections.

Preparing for a General Election

CaSE director, Nick Dusic, gave a presentation at the first Policy Lunchbox seminar, organized by the Biochemical Society and British Ecological Society, entitled 'How to engage with the opposition and with manifesto development in the run up to the 2010 election?'. Details about the Policy Lunchbox series. CaSE is gearing up for the general election and will be looking to our members for input along the way.

Focussing the Science Budget

Lord Drayson, Science Minister, continues to discuss focussing science funding after the £106 million reallocation of research money announced in the budget. CaSE will to continue to engage in this debate. We are preparing a briefing for a 4th June House of Lords' debate on science and engineering and it will be addressed in our forthcoming report on the impact of the research base.
