Greetings!

Now that we are a third of the way through this email series, I think I should reiterate a point, especially to our newer readers.  Once this series of weekly emails is concluded, our emails will be no more frequent than once a month.  I mention this for two reasons - first, to assure you that you won't be bombarded with email from us once this series is finished.  Second, to emphasize how important to Tucson's history we believe this body of work really is.

The second painting I'd like to show you drives home an important point:  Mr. Dubin is a painter dedicated to advancing his techniques by attacking challenging scenes - it just so happens that his subject of choice is urban transportation.  The challenge within this painting was, of course, to depict the reflections in the curved windows of the cars in the foreground.  And although he accomplished this successfully, what makes this painting so charming is the activity captured in the background - that of the family boarding our city's beloved trolley.

We've mentioned before that this body of work has historical importance.  Well, if you were to stand where the artist stood today, you'd note this scene has changed significantly -  the 4th Avenue underpass and has been completely revamped (and shows up in later paintings in its new state), and the pantograph bringing power to the trolley has also changed significantly been altered since this painting was created.  Historians, take note.

Enough from me - enjoy the painting, and come view it in person on March 12.
