Issue #47                                                     July 2012

Greetings!

Summer has finally arrived in the Comox Valley, and according to my daughter it is just over 50 days before my son moves out and goes to University!

Thankfully the Bach Flower remedies can assist us with everyday situations, whether minor or major events.

If you want to learn more about the remedies the first level, for example, teaches you how to select remedies,  learn the basics such as how and when to take them, and to incorporate them into your daily life.

 Flying the Nest...

Now that my son has been accepted into University he will be 'Flying the Nest...' this Fall, consequently I have been trying to prepare myself and of course him for this mile stone. I am beginning to gather together everything I think he may need from towels, plates, peanut butter etc. which are going to be placed in a 'Big Wide World' Box. I have warned my husband that once we have dropped him off at the tender age of 17 going on 18 I may cry all the way home!

Fortunately the Bach Flower Remedies are there to help with the emotional aspects that will surface over the next few months for our family, and will help me to remove the motherly 'bubble wrap'.

Aspen and Mimulus will help ease the fears and worries.  Aspen is for fears and anxiety, when you are unsure of what could happen, those niggling anxious feelings that seem to pop up from time to time. Apprehension is replaced by a desire for a new adventure and new experiences, disregarding any difficulties that may arise with reassurance. Mimulus assists with known fears, providing one with a calm sense of courage to face difficult situations with confidence.

Moving away is a big step and can be very overwhelming. Elm helps with self-assurance and the ability to put things into perspective that everything will fall into place. Larch gives one the confidence that they will be able to cope with whatever life throws your way. For protection from change and outside influences Walnut gives us the ability to move forward and adapt to everything new or different in our lives.

I will be taking numerous doses of Red Chestnut when I start to worry what will he cook, will he be able to open a jar, what if he gets sick, and so it goes on. It will help me to remain calm and confident that everything will work out and the niggling feelings of anxiety will be put to rest.

Last but not least Rescue Remedy can help with demanding and stressful situations. If you are fearful, anxious, or even in terror, Rescue Remedy will help you face the situation in a better frame of mind. Rescue Remedy is especially useful before a stressful event helping to reduce fear and nervousness.

Please note that the Bach Flower Remedies are not a magic bullet, and there are 38 in total, which can be combined 6/7 at a time, and can be custom blended for whatever is going on in your life. They work subtly by bringing out the positive qualities that are already in you.
