Greetings!
Another summer vacation over, and
school is back in. Now it is new beginnings for all the students. I think the kids are glad to be back
(deep-down) though it is a big step for my daughter to go from Elementary School
to High School - a big learning curve.
In fact both kids seemed quite happy this morning about to embark on
their second day of school - could it be the Bach Flowers kicking in?

Getting in the groove to go back
to School
The hot lazy days of summer seem to go on forever and
ever. Trips to the beach to try and
escape from the heat, visiting family, and sitting curled up in the shade
reading your favorite book. But at the
back of every child's and parents mind is the thought of going back to
school. There is a constant reminder
because all the stores are full of school supplies, and every media outlet is
reminding us that a nasty flu bug is lurking around the corner.
My daughter will be going to High School this fall, and
keeps saying that she is excited yet nervous.
This is when the Bach Flowers come into their own to assist with her
niggling fears and possible stress. The
adjustment from Elementary School is High School is rather daunting. On the plus side they get electives, but I
think the main problem is the fear of getting lost for the first week or
so. Her particular school is very large
and like a maze, in fact it has been described to be like Hogwarts (but without
the moving stair cases).
The remedies that will be going into her personalized remedy
bottle are Aspen, Mimulus, Larch, Walnut, Olive, Crab Apple, and Rescue Remedy.
For myself I will be taking Red Chestnut.
Aspen and Mimulus will help ease the fears and
worries. Aspen for fears and
anxiety, when you are unsure of what could happen, those niggling anxious
feelings that seem to pop up from time to time. Apprehension is replaced by a
desire for a new adventure and new experiences, disregarding any difficulties
that may arise with reassurance. Mimulus assists with known fears,
providing one with a calm sense of courage to face difficult situations with
confidence.
Larch provides confidence to get through the day, and
the ability to cope with any setbacks that life throws your way. Nothing will stand in your way. Walnut is
the protector from change and outside influences (people and germs). It is
rather a shock to the system to get used to going to a new school, and Walnut
is the protector from discouragement and negative situations.
If you are feeling worried about all the germs that may be
floating around a large school or public place, Crab Apple is the
cleansing remedy, and helps you to feel purified. Don't forget to wash you hands thoroughly all the time also.
After a summer of late nights and arising late in the
mornings, Olive is the remedy to provide you with the energy to get
through the long school days, homework, and journey to and from school.
Last but not least Rescue Remedy for demanding and
stressful situations. If you are
fearful, confused, or even in terror, Rescue Remedy will help you face the
situation in a better frame of mind. Rescue Remedy is especially useful before
a stressful event, such as the first day of school, helping to reduce fear and
nervousness.
Lets not forget the parents who are also anxious about their
little darlings going back to school. I
will be taking numerous doses of Red Chestnut so I will remain calm and
confident that everything will work out well for my kids, and the niggling
feelings of anxiety will be washed away so I will enjoy my new found freedom!

'How Rescue Remedy saved the day'
I was walking to the bus stop in Montreal on a busy city
sidewalk before the winter and I saw an injured bird on the side of the
sidewalk. It was trying to walk, fly
and could barely move. It seemed quite
frustrated and distressed.
I got a disposable
cup and tore the sides so I could put some water in it with about an inch on
the sides of the cup so the bird could reach in to the water.
I put a few drops of
Rescue Remedy (that I carry with me) in the water and placed the cup near the
bird. It seemed to dip its beak in a
few times. I watched for a few minutes
adjusting the cup when needed. It seemed to me the bird relaxed a bit.
Another person was
watching and said he would keep watching and take care of the situation. I think that the Rescue Remedy helped a bit.
