Issue: # Ten June 2009
Greetings!

Is just the thought of summer (kids home 24/7, company, vacation hick-ups etc) stressing you out?
Read on for summer stress solutions....
Feature Remedy:
Rescue Remedy is the most famous of the remedies, but in fact is not a remedy at all, but rather a mix of five different remedies (Cherry Plum, Clematis, Impatiens, Rock Rose and Star of Bethlehem) which together help deal with any emergency or stressful event. Taking a driving test, exam nerves, speaking in public, after an accident or an argument - there are countless uses for Rescue Remedy.

In an emergency Rescue Remedy can be taken neat from the bottle, four drops or two sprays at a time, and as frequently as required. Otherwise put four drops or two sprays in a glass of water and take frequent sips until the emotions have calmed. Don't forget pets and plants have emotions too.

Star of Bethlehem (for shock) provides comfort and consolation
Rock Rose (for terror and panic) provides peace and fearlessness
Clematis (for faintness) provides focus
Impatiens (for undue agitation) provides patience
Cherry Plum (for hysteria or loss of self-control) provides calmness and composure

Rescue Remedy
Rock Rose and Cherry Plum are here,
Clematis, Star of Bethlehem,
Impatiens, the vital five
Combined in one to help revive,
To save the injured, rescue them
From tension, torpor, shock and fear.

Article: Bach Flowers to the rescue.
It's the beginning of June and summer has arrived early in the Comox Valley.  With the long sunny days and the hot rays of the sun it is important to protect our skins from the glare of the sun.  Covering up and a good sunscreen are a must.

Right now our yard is green and lush, the grass is growing at a great rate and there seem to be more weeds than ever, so we are spending a lot of time outside. To help deal with bug bites, scrapes, scratches, sunburn etc it is useful to have Bach Rescue Cream on
hand which is beneficial for external traumas.  If you apply it quickly enough there will be no sign of bruising.

Rescue Cream contains natural ingredients to which Rescue Remedy and Crab Apple have been added, making it a very versatile, soothing and healing salve.  Its application should be when the skin has been cleaned

In fact it has come to my daughter's aid many a time, and one occasion springs to mind. Before she was about to dance on stage she was accidentally hit by a trolley in the nose. . Immediately I grabbed my Rescue Remedy out of my purse, sprayed it on my finger then rubbed it on her nose, then sprayed her and myself for the shock.  Within seconds my daughter stopped crying and there was no
mark on her face at all.  Another mother watched with amazement at the turn of events and purchased a Rescue Remedy after that for her first aid kit.

For more extreme aches, pains, sprains etc. some other Bach Flowers can assist also. Being constantly in pain can be overwhelming, exhausting and irritating to say the least.  Beech can provide some relief from the feelings of intolerance, Elm is for feelings of being overwhelmed and can help to put things into perspective, and Impatience can assist with feelings of irritability.

Summer can be a busy time of year, with yard work, camping, sports, and exercise; it is easy to overdo it.  If you have general feelings of exhaustion from over doing it or because of difficulties with sleep, Olive can assist with energy levels.  Olive aids with the restoration of strength and the ability to get through the day.  For those who try to carry on regardless of their limitations Oak helps you to recognize the need to take time off and to relax and look after yourself.
