Please make sure you have your say in the election of Trustees of the Institute of Hospitality. You can vote for up to three candidates so please make good use of your right to vote. Please note all completed ballot papers must be received by the Independent Scrutineer, Electoral Reform Services Limited, The Election Centre, 33 Clarendon Road, London N8 0NW no later than noon on Friday 7th May 2010. The ballot papers are issued directly from the Electoral Reform Services. | The hospitality sector is the biggest victim of data security breaches in the world, according to Trustwave, a global provider of IT security and compliance headquartered in Chicago.
Its latest Global Security Report found that hospitality businesses accounted for 38% of all data security breaches last year, compared to 19% for financial services and 14% for retail.

| Major UK hospitality companies need to register for the Government's Carbon Reduction Commitment Energy Efficiency Scheme. Registration is now open until the 30 September, after which non-compliance may result in civil sanctions and fines.

| The current medical certificates issued by UK doctors have been replaced by a "Statement of Fitness for Work" as from 6 April 2010. The new certificates represent a change in attitude and will require employers to be more proactive in considering what work the employee CAN do as opposed to them just being signed off sick.
Evidence suggests that long periods away from work are associated with poor mental and physical health, increased use of health services and poverty.
