Wish you a very Happy New Year 2012!
This January, we complete 5 years of classroom operations in India. On this occasion, we present to you the JA India Roll of Honor 2011.
The year saw 25+ institutions, alongside individual volunteers, generate a force of 1400+ volunteers. Deloitte and Cognizant emerged as the largest volunteering partners (480 volunteers each). KPMG (180), HSBC (75), ExxonMobil (60), IDEX (30) and Genpact (30) too emerged as large partners.
We feel particularly happy to honor Mathivanan (Mathi) Elangovan (Cognizant, Chennai) and Kapil Mittal (ExxonMobil, Delhi) as the JA FELLOWS for 2011. Their commitment to the JA mission is legendary -- be it expanding current JA footprint, expanding to new cities, or mobilizing stakeholders/resources to augment learning/support capacity at JA schools.
Honor Roll 2011 witnessed a net addition of 1,000+ names to the 2010 list (460 volunteers). JA India volunteer is a working professional. Unless the program concept and delivery clears the threshold-conviction of this independent mind, expecting the volunteer to invest classroom time would be misplaced. Further, JA is about workforce readiness; so is the volunteer a professional from a real-time workplace. A program bereft of substance, as assessed by the volunteer, would not get us their attention. We are glad, most of our 2010 volunteers conducted classroom programs in 2011.
We thank each of you, and all our Partner and Sponsor organizations. We hope to be of even greater relevance, to you and students, in 2012.
