-ITGA Presents-
5th Annual Best Practices In Building
University/City Relations Conference
Sustainable Partnerships For The Future
Building and Sustaining Strong University Communities whether in a small town or a booming metropolis, a college or university brings a unique collection of assets to the community. These academic institutions bring with them a large group of young and often spirited adults, a highly educated faculty with unique perspectives, not to mention sports, culture, entertainment, and tradition. When combined with a city's established neighborhoods, central business districts and their own set of goals, you have the potential for great conflict or great opportunity. Partnerships are essential in minimizing conflicts and forming productive relationships and collaborations among the diverse assets, populations, and outlooks that are found within the college town.
The 5th Annual Best Practices in Building University/City Relations Conference brought to you by the International Town & Gown Association provides the forum through which these sustainable partnerships may be forged. Every June, this conference attracts participants from across the nation and across a wide range of professions to discuss the dynamics of the town-gown relationship. What makes this event unique is the cross-disciplinary nature of the conversations. Only at the ITGA/ Best Practices conference will you find elected officials and city administrators at the same table with university administrators, student affairs professionals, campus/city planners, economic development professionals, law enforcement officials, and students.
This 2010 conference will be held in the City of Ames, home to Iowa State University. In addition to dynamic sessions, great networking opportunities and thought provoking speakers, tours and evening events will be held throughout the campus and the community so you can experience all Iowa State and Ames has to offer!
