Study Looks Into Drive of College Students' Dining Choices
CHICAGO, IL- The Business Wire describes a report by foodservice consultant Technomic that tells the different reasons college students chose where to dine, on or off campus. Secondhand Smoke Exposure is High on Campus in North Carolina
WINSTON-SALEM, NC - According to the Winston-Salem Journal,  a study on secondhand smoke conducted at 10 North Carolina universities found that 83 percent of students had been exposed at least once a week. The study by researchers at the Wake Forest University School of Medicine, is the first to provide evidence of the high rates of secondhand smoke exposure among U.S. college students. The study found that 55 percent of the exposure came in the students' residence or being in the same room with a smoker.  Most secondhand smoke exposures, 65 percent, happened at a restaurant or bar, while 38 percent occurred in a car. The researchers surveyed 4,223 undergraduate college students at eight public and
two private universities in the fall of 2006. The students were asked about their drinking and smoking habits, demographics, where they lived and secondhand smoke exposure.

5. If you're smoking, watch that butt!
6. Use a power strip - don't overload.

8. Know how to activate the fire alarm.
9. Know what to do when the fire alarm sounds.
10. Get out and stay out whenever the alarm sounds
PARKING & TRANSPORTATION

Car-sharing Program Comes to Another Campus
TAMPA , FL - The Tampa Bay Tribune reports that The University of South Florida is one of the first in Florida to try a new car-sharing program. Called WeCar, it provides rental cars for short trips at hourly rates. It works this way: Students, faculty or staff members buy a $20 membership with Enterprise Rent-A-Car. That entitles them to a card that provides access to the vehicles. When they need to drive somewhere, they make an online reservation, go to the car parked at a designated spot, swipe the card on the front windshield to unlock it, then drive away using the key inside. When they're done, they swipe the card to lock it and go on their way. In addition to freeing up parking space, the project aims to reducing carbon emissions. The University of Florida has had a similar car-sharing program for two years known as Zipcar.
