Best Practices Conference # 4 in Murray, KY is a Huge Success
MURRAY, KY - The 4th Annual Best Practices in Building University/City Relations Conference held June 1-4 in Murray was another huge success for building town & gown partnerships across the US and Canada. The attendance of the conference peaked at over 250 attendees during Wednesday's Keynote Luncheon when Dr. Bob Long of the Kellogg Foundation and Murray State University Distinguished Professor of Nonprofit Leadership joined Dr. Constantine (Deno) Curris, past president of the American Association of State Colleges and past president of MSU and Clemson University in providing current national perspectives of the importance of town & gown relations in our college communities. ITGA BOARD OF DIRECTORS MEETS DURING MURRAY CONFERENCE
The ITGA Board of Directors met during the 4th Annual Best Practices in Building University/City Relations Conference in Murray, Kentucky. The Board received an update of the status of membership and financial reports. The Board took action on several items including establishing a proposed date for the ITGA Annual Meeting of December 7, 2009 which may be held through electronic media.
ITGA Board Establishes Goal of 100 New Members for 2009 and Will Begin to Limit Services to Non-members Beginning
October 1st
In an effort to meet the membership drive goals of 100 new members for the rest of 2009, the Board asked that the Executive Committee determine which of the current services that are offered to members and non-members alike, such as newsletters and the presentation/resources library, be discontinued to non-members as of October 1, 2009. The Executive Committee will determine what services will become member only and will become password protected after October 1st. The goal is to eventually build a sustainable membership level so that services may be offered to all college communities. The ITGA needs at least 400 member organizations to become self-sustaining. Please help the ITGA keep as many services as possible to all colleges and communities by joining the ITGA organization. Membership rates are:
Founding members: Colleges: $ 3,333/year and governments $ 3,333/year
General members: From $250 - $800/year based upon population/enrollment
Individual members: $250/ year
Student members: $50/ year

TOWN & GOWN FORUM TOPIC
Fort Collins, Colorado is looking for states who might have laws that limit "all you can drink" specials.  Many of the bars in Fort Collins offer specials like, "women pay $5 and can have unlimited well drinks all night!"  Other bars have quarter beer nights.  We would like to learn about the types of alcohol regulations that could reduce high-risk drinking behaviors; and specifically limit the "all you can drink" specials. Please respond by e-mail to info@town-gown.net.
