PRAM Members,

We had a great turnout for last month's joint meeting with the Advertising Federation. Over 70 people (including 34 PRAM members) enjoyed Steve Lance, former advertising campaign manager for NBC and Discovery Channel, help bridge the communication divide between executives and creatives. Raemona received a lot of positive feedback from this special gathering, and we hope to host similar events in the future.

Join us on Monday at our regular location and time (Great Southern Club at noon) to welcome PR guru Leyla Goodsell. In case you attended our state conference in May, Leyla was the one leaving the awards ceremony with the truckload of PRisms. Check out her impressive bio below.

Get Certified!

Hello all! I am excited to inform you that we have arrangements for the APR Workshop nailed down. It will be a one-day session July 22 in Jackson. (Perhaps in the future we will be able to expand to the 3-day boot camp, but thought it best to try this as a first step).

Please check out the links below for all the information (as many of you probably know, the new PRAM website has also been launched, and it looks great!). I would ask that you mention the session to your chapters as soon as possible, and please direct them to the links.

Note that the session is for all members, not just those currently pursuing their APR. We wanted this to be worthwhile for anyone...it may also spur interest for some to consider going through the process, so please make those points to your members. For those members who are eligible and want to sit for the exam on the Saturday following the session, we need them to register by July 11. Registration and payment can be done on-line, or by sending hard copies and checks to me. All other deadlines and cost ($100) are mentioned.

We are trying to promote this as much as possible and we hope to have a good response. All PRAM members will soon be receiving an email about the session, as will SPRF members. I will also personally follow up with members in the APR pipeline and the folks who indicated an interest in a training session whenever I visited some of the chapters.

June 13 Luncheon Meeting

PRAM members and public relations professionals are invited to join this month's speaker Leyla Goodsell. Goodsell holds a bachelor's degree in communication arts from Georgia Southern University and a master's degree in public relations from The University of Southern Mississippi. Her professional career includes over 15 years experience in nonprofit organizations, fundraising development, public broadcasting, education and healthcare public relations. Goodsell has served as a Visiting Professor of Practice at USM; Director of Communications for Advancement at The University of Alabama; and Director of Marketing, Advertising and Community Relations for the Tuscaloosa County Park and Recreation Authority. In 2010, she joined Hattiesburg Clinic's physician recruiting team and launched Three to Five Creative Communications, a virtual freelance public relations agency.

PRAM-Mississippi Beach Chapter donated bicycle helmets to the Gulf Coast Heritage Trails Partnership during their May meeting in celebration of National Bicycle Month. The helmets will be used by the Boys & Girls Clubs of the Gulf Coast Forest Heights Center during their bike rodeo. The Heritage Trails Partnership hosts local bike rodeos for kids to promote bicycle safety.
