Happy early Valentine's Day, PRAM members!
We definitely need some warm hearts to help fight these unseasonably cold temperatures. One way to help is to participate in our first community service project for the year. We will be bringing valentines and sugar-free candy to two local nursing homes on Valentine's Day and we're asking our members to help spread the love. At next week's meeting (February 14), feel free to bring a signed Valentine 's Day card and/or sugar free candy to add to our donation on behalf of the chapter.
I had two grandparents who spent a short time in a retirement facility before their passing. While they were fortunate to have loved ones nearby who visited, we couldn't help but notice those who were not as fortunate. Let's all pitch in and try to help brighten a senior citizen's day.
On another note, we had a great turnout for last week's meeting where SunHerald photographer Tim Isbell provided tips on composing compelling images. I am very excited about our follow up meeting where our very own APR chair Ron Barnes will provide a tag-team presentation with our state's APR chair Kurt Brautigam to deliver a fun and informative program that will demystify the accreditation process.
I hope you are staying as warm as you can this year and hope to see you at our February 14 meeting. Also, I wanted to remind you that we will not have a March meeting in hopes that you will attend our state conference. This year we are lucky to have it in our own backyard on March 17-18 at the Beau Rivage.

Yours in PRAM,

YOU - a Professional? Yes!
By Ron Barnes, APR
I hope you will join us for the February meeting as we welcome back one of our favorite sons, Kurt Brautigam, APR.
Kurt and I will present a fun and informative program that will demystify the accreditation process (and since this meeting falls on St. Valentine's Day, we'll even have some sweets to share). Did you know that based on the 2005 PR Week/Korn Ferry Salary Survey, accredited public relations professionals earn 20 percent more than their non-accredited counterparts? That is a pretty compelling reason to make 2011 the year to seriously consider adding the APR designation to your professional resume. I am very excited to serve as the PRAM MS Beach APR representative for 2011. Gaining the APR designation was one of the most rewarding achievements of my 22 years in the public relations profession, and has opened doors in my career that wouldn't have otherwise been possible. | |
