Marriage Seminar Question: What do I do when my wife keeps remembering the affair? |
The key is to be patient with her. If her emotional pain has lingered to a point where it is affecting the relationship, I advise the couple to seek marriage counseling. Many men don't have a clue of the emotional pain wives go through when their husbands cheat. A husband's extramarital affair will weaken his wife's trust and love which are important components within a marriage. In order to help the wife with the healing process, it is important that the husband truthfully, patiently and lovingly answer all questions his wife asks. She has displayed patience by remaining in the marriage, so you must be patient with her; your patience with her will help her heal from the pain. |

First, your spouse has to stop cheating. Once he/she stops, then you can start the healing process through prayer, counseling and confession. I believe that one's relationship with God will help one learn how to incorporate the power of faithfulness within the relationship. |

The word of God says that a husband should find a wife; however, the Bible never said that a woman should not make herself approachable. The story of Ruth within the Bible is a perfect example where Ruth made herself approachable for Boaz. Boaz made the first move but Ruth made herself available by having washed and perfumed herself along with wearing her best clothes (Ruth 3:3). Ruth also displayed kindness towards Boaz, she did not run after men, and she was know by others as a woman of noble character (Ruth 3:10-11). |

Time is an asset to healing. Also, I advised you to get connected and involved within church to help with the healing process because the sermons from the preacher along with fellowshipping with other Christians can be extremely helpful. While in church, you are connecting with God who is the God of all comfort. |

Of course, this varies on an individual basis. The bottom line is the man needs to search within himself to see whether he wants to be married. If the both of you have dated over a year, and you have the desire to get married one day, you should have communicated about the topic and found out his opinion on marriage. Based on his answer, you can decide whether you want to move forward within the relationship or agree to part ways because the both of you are moving in different directions. |

I encourage you to not move towards dating an unbeliever out of frustration. This frustration may lead you towards sacrificing your values and faith in God. When you love God, it is important that you find a partner whose love for God is moving in the same direction as you. You should put God first, and he will direct your path to someone who loves you and God. As you put God first, and pray, remember that the best timing is God's timing and not your timing. |

Single's Seminar Question: What if two people in a relationship don't want to get married, when in the Bible it talks about the importance of marriage? |
One very important component of marriage is a lifelong commitment with your spouse. If you both do not want to get married, this displays that you both do not want to be fully commit to one another. In society, it is sad for me to see people make a commitment to owning and caring for their car, committed to their children, but neglect getting involved in the commitment of marriage. Also, within marriage, sex is within its proper context. Outside of marriage it is outside of its proper context. It makes more sense to have sex with your spouse whom you have made a lifelong commitment than an individual who has sex outside of marriage and can leave whenever he/she wants because there is no marriage-bound commitment. | |
