This past January, Stars was awarded a two-year grant, through the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act of 2009, to provide Early Head Start services to the communities of Holbrook and Randolph.
The launch of the program was celebrated on Friday, April 30th at Randolph Town Hall. Congressman Stephen Lynch spoke, and educator Diana Kane, of Creative Connection, performed.

| RISE sponsored Family Nutrition and Fitness Night |
Having fun with movement activities. |
On Tuesday, May 4, Weymouth Preschool families gathered at Chapman Middle School for a family RISE (Reading Is So Exciting) Night. The evening was filled with cooking activities, nutrition games, and movement challenges. The kindergarten class put on a play about vegetables, and taste tests were done to compare raw and cooked foods. Each family left with a free book to add to their at-home library.

| Volunteer Days | LOCAL COMPANIES PITCH IN FOR SPRING SPRUCE-UP
Volunteers crews completed five projects this month including three days to ensure that camp is ready for over 300 daily campers this summer. UPS and Dunkin' Brands volunteers worked indoors and out on projects to get our Randolph Preschool and Quincy Preschool centers in top shape.
The
UPS (United Parcel Service) Volunteers at Randolph
Preschool. Hardworking volunteers
mulched a playground area, painted indoor areas and outdoor parking lot lines, power washed the building
and picked up the grounds. Thank you UPS!
Blue Crew Volunteers put together literacy project kits for our summer camp. Each project is paired with a summer reading book as part of the Storyland pavillion at camp.

State Street Global volunteers have helped with the camp opening project at Hale Reservation for the last 4 years led by State Street manager Rob Gallagher. Camp opening is
labor intensive: crews mulch all play areas,
paint latrine and office cabin walls and floors, hang tarps, move picnic tables and cover table tops with heavy duty plastic, set
up the archery site, assemble first aid kits, and move supplies into cabins. Camp is now ready for
over 300 campers thanks to State Street and Blue Crew
Volunteers.

Blue Crew came out to finish the last details for camp opening. They cleaned the food cabin and engineering cabin, moved and organized materials, raked and swept pavilions, and hung the archery tarp.

Dunkin' Brands volunteers pitch-forked the playground and weeded and mulched the garden. The grounds and surrounding area of the building were pristine once Dunkin' Brands crew was finished.
