Guest Workshop or Lecture Presentation

M.F.A./Poetry or Literary Translation Candidate

Nominations for our Puebla 2012 program will be accepted through October 15th.

We are accepting nominations from creative writing professors for a student currently pursuing an MFA in Poetry or Literary Translation (with a focus on Mexican poetry or Latin American Studies) to participate in our workshops for 1/2 tuition ($300). In exchange, the candidate will present one translation workshop  or lecture for participants. This is a unique opportunity for a student to gain experience conducting a workshop or presenting a lecture in a foreign country. Professional introductions for future projects abound.  The candidate will also give a half-hour public reading, which will include their own poetry and/or English language translations of a contemporary Latin American poet.

Please write to uspoetsinmexico@verizon.net to nominate a candidate and include a brief description of the candidate's particular focus on Latin American Studies or Mexican poetry. Include the student's email and a brief recommendation.

A follow-up email from USPiM to candidates of interest will request a description of their proposed workshop or lecture. The nominee will be selected and notified by November 15th.
