News Bits!

The end of 2009 brings awareness and inspiration.  This February marks the end of my second year in Charlottesville, and a year and a half in my studio in Belvedere.  I keep making changes to my website.  Please check my resources page for an article on Working with the Overwhelmed Nervous System and a powerpoint on my work with moms and babies.

The website will be beefed up as BIHA completes a research grant with the department of obstetrics and gynecology at the babyfaceUniversity of Virginia.  We are applying for a grant to work with the impact of massage therapy on high risk pregnancy.  Massage therapy has been shown to decrease anxiety and depression in women during pregnancy and postpartum.

Due to logistical issues, I will be decreasing my travel to Vermont and my participation in the collaborative of professionals I helped co-foundThe Free Clinic working with families who had difficulty with pregnancy, birth or postpartum is moving to my studio in Virginia.  Please stay tuned for more information after the New Year.

Back by popular demand, I will be offering free monthly afterschchildren on logool nature classes at Ivy Creek the last Thursday of the month starting in March.  I will be writing about it in my late winter/early spring newsletter!  See their website for more information.

Introductory sessions for the Foundatiocraniosacraltherapyn Training in Biodynamic Craniosacral Therapy March 10-13, 2010 is being offered in Charlottesville.  This 10 module training is an excellent training in craniosacral therapy.  We need 30 participants to begin a training here, so we are planning to offer 3 introductory modules.  Please see the website for the training for more information.

I am working at the Ananda Center for Conscious Living.  I am offering seated and regular massage every other Friday and on call.  This month I will be there Tuesday December 15 from 11 am - 2 pm!  We are still trying to figure out my schedule there.  The center offers lots of classes and services, and a great selection of gifts.  Please STOP by and see me there.  Seated massage is only a dollar a minute and feels so good!  Ananda is also offering a great class on meditation and connection for New Mothers.  Check out the website for days and times!

I will be offering free classes in baby massage and in toddler-parent interactive play at Sugar Snap Clothing Consignmentbabyface
the  second and fourth Thursday of each month.  They are located down on the Downtown Mall and can easily be worked into a trip to the Discovery Museum.
