KDL Celebrates 75 Years
2011 marks the 75th Anniversary of the Kent District Library, and we're celebrating with a number of events, highlights, and special initiatives all year long to chronicle the journey. From 1936, when the Kent County Board of Supervisors officially established the Kent County Library, to today, we'll be highlighting some of the key milestones, achievements, and challenges we've encountered along the way. Many things have changed in those 75 years, but our goal of enriching lives by providing outstanding library service still remains the same.

It's a New Chapter in Caledonia
KDL invites you to visit the new Caledonia Twp. branch, located at 6260 92nd St., for a Grand Opening Celebration on Saturday, February 12 at 9:30am. Come experience this beautiful new library facility and all of its wonderful amenities including a kids lounge, wireless bar, quiet fireside area for reading, art gallery and more. Event festivities will include music, crafts, balloons, and cake.
Please join us in our celebration as we begin the next chapter of Kent District Library's Caledonia Twp. branch.

A Legacy of Lifelong Learning
 KDL would like to thank you for helping us " Stock the Shelves" with your year-end donations to the KDL Fund. Your generosity helped raise over $8,900 for new books and materials for our youth collection and helps us continue to grow our legacy of lifelong learning.
To celebrate KDL's 75th Anniversary, we have some exciting fundraising activities planned throughout the year. With your help, the KDL Fund Development Board will continue leading the effort to grow our endowment and support of activities including Play, Grow, Read To Your Baby, Early Literacy Computer Stations, and Imagination Stations.
If you are interested in partnering with KDL in growing our Annual or Endowment Funds during our 75th anniversary year, we'd love to have you join us. |
2011 Teen Film Festival
 Many have entered but now it's down to the best of the best. Join us on Saturday, February 12 at 10:30am for a viewing of this year's Teen Film Festival finalists at Celebration Cinema North. Ten short films will be featured and admission is free. A guest panel of judges, including John Serba of the Grand Rapids Press, will be on hand to select the winning entries. Prizes will be awarded to the top 3 films. Come to cheer for your favorite film or just come to watch, but whatever you do, don't miss this exciting event! |

Win Tickets to See Disney on Ice
 The Kent District Library would like to provide you and your family the opportunity to win tickets to see your favorite Disney princesses in Disney On Ice presents Princess Wishes, taking place March 10-13 at VanAndel Arena. To enter, stop by any one of KDL's 18 branch locations and look for the Disney On Ice display and entry box between February 7 and March 1. Two 4-ticket family packs will be awarded at each branch location and two Grand Prize packages will be awarded system-wide, which include show tickets, a gift bag, and a "meet and greet" with the princesses.
