New Interim Library Director Appointed

Cheryl GarrisonWith the June 18 departure of former KDL Library Director, Martha Esch, the KDL Board of Trustees has selected Cheryl Garrison to serve as Interim Director as the search for a new Director is conducted. Having most recently served as Assistant Director, Cheryl has worked for KDL in a variety of capacities for the past 23 years, including Branch Manager as well as Program Manager. "I am pleased to have been appointed KDL Interim Director and plan to continue our efforts to provide outstanding library service to our customers." states Cheryl.

It's Tunes for Tots!

KaganThis summer, KDL invites you to join us for some of the nation's best children's musicians as they sing, strum, and drum your favorite kid-friendly hits. Educationally stimulating and tons of fun, this week-long series kicks off with Jeff Kagan on July 29 at the Wyoming and EGR branches, followed by The Candy Band on July 29 & 30, Frank Leto on August 4 & 5, and Jim Gill on August 5 & 6. Times and locations vary, so be sure to check our event calendar for details. We hope to see you there!

Notice: New Holds Policy Now in Effect

As noted in last month's eNewsletter, on June 28, the Kent District Library, along with other Lakeland Library Cooperative (LLC) members, instituted a new policy regarding library holds.

While these changes will impact the ability to place holds on library material, cardholders of Lakeland member libraries will still have the ability to visit any Lakeland Library location and borrow materials.

With these changes, our aim is to reduce the costs associated with transportation of library items while continuing to allocate resources to those areas our library users have identified as most important. For additional policy details, please read this blog post.
