The KDL Speakers Bureau

microphoneAre you interested in getting a speaker for your next meeting or event? Would you like to know more about library services and resources that can benefit your group or organization? From early literacy education to book recommendations and more, our speakers can enlighten, educate, and entertain. We can even custom-create a presentation to meet your needs. Best of all, this service is free to organizations within the KDL service area.

Visit our Speakers Bureau webpage for more information or call
616-784-2007 to speak with a KDL staff member.

Teen Poetry Contest

poetryApril is National Poetry Month and KDL is once again rounding up the area's best young poets for our seventh annual Teen Poetry Contest. Starting April 1, teens in grades 6-12 can submit their poems online or at a local KDL branch for a chance to receive a $50 gift card to Schuler Books and Music. The winning poems will also be made available on our website (check out last year's winners here).

See our contest page for complete rules and an online entry form.  If you're looking for inspiration, check out this list of KDL staff favorite teen poetry books, or stop by the library and ask for a recommendation.
Census Help @ KDL

CensusHave questions about the Census? KDL's Wyoming and Comstock Park branches will be hosting a Questionnaire Assistance Center for help with the 2010 Census. These temporary Assistance Centers have been established to aid residents in filling out their 2010 Census forms. For several hours a day, a US Census Bureau employee will be available to answer your questions at these locations. For date and time information, please visit the KDL Blog.

Be sure to complete your 2010 Census as results can help to determine allocation of funding for things such as schools, hospitals, roads and, yes, libraries too! For updated state and local participation rates, check out this interactive map.
