Your Library Stories

StoriesSometimes all you have to do is ask. In honor of Library Lovers month, we asked you to tell us why you love the library and you responded with a variety of stories highlighting just how the library has affected so many lives. Stories were submitted via web form, blog comment, Facebook, and even handwritten postcards. Here are a few excerpts from these stories:

"We have relied on the library's resources for many aspects in our lives: finances, entertainment, education, parenting, how to books, hobbies, books on tape, etc. The library has been there for us and is one of the greatest resources in our community." - Colleen

"Our libraries are warm, comforting, inspiring places to be. When I have friends and family visit from out of town I bring them to our libraries - how many people can say that?!" - Janelle

"I find relaxation, solitude, enrichment and friendship [at the library]." - Dave

From memorable childhood library experiences to tales of the library helping people through difficult times in adulthood, your stories were diverse, informative and inspirational.

We sincerely thank you for sharing these stories and, even though Library Lovers Month is over, we encourage you to continue sharing. Also, congratulations to our gift card winners!
A Celebration of Literature
Literature
March marks the beginning of a new program season here at KDL and this time we're celebrating the written word with our seasonal theme "Just Imagine: A Celebration of Literature". This month, we'll be hosting a number of programs and events, featuring local and national authors and illustrators including Catherine Freerichs, Tom Rademacher, Susan Roth and others.

Reminder: Important Policy Update!
Return
Effective March 15, 2010, Kent District Library will be adopting a new materials return policy. The change is a result of continued cuts to library funding. For KDL customers, this means you will need to return KDL items to any KDL branch location. This change in policy WILL NOT impact your ability to place holds through the online catalog. Please read this blog post for further details and clarification.
