The "GO" Newsletter

My shopping is done and most of my presents are wrapped. The decorations are up and Christmas cards have been sent. I've been spending some extra time in my kitchen baking and cooking all kinds of goodies. I just love holiday baking!

On the business side of things we are very busy at Get Organized!. We've had new clients calling for gift certificates and another recently needed time management coaching for her professional life.

I look forward to a few quiet weeks ahead because January is National Get Organized Month. With the holidays over, The Container Store and IKEA will be packed with shoppers ready for advice and products to help them get organized.

We are excited to have added new organizers to our GO Team this month and we will be expanding more next month. Watch our newsletter in January as we start introducing them to you. Each has unique organizational specialties and we know one will be perfect for your needs.

Finally, I have teamed up with IKEA to hold three very special workshops in January. They have a new workshop room, a new IKEA Family perks program, new products, and new freebies. Plan to come out and see me at one of the dates below.... and it's all free.

Have a very Merry Christmas!

Creative Pet Solutions

Family pets usually have sleeping areas, treats, leashes, and grooming products that need to stay clean, organized, and handy.

It is important to keep kennels and litter boxes out of areas where food is served and cleanliness is a priority. While you might not be affected by the pet odors, guests may be uncomfortable with the smells, especially in eating areas.

Place leashes near the door you exit when walking your dog, but remember they do not have to sit in plain sight. Hang them on a hook in a nearby closet. Consider placing a basket in the main living area for pet toys, unless the space is shared by a crawling baby or curious toddler. Instead place the basket on a shelf in the laundry room or use a clear shoe organizer for the inside of a closet door. These pockets will allow you to organize bones, leashes, and pet toys in a clear pouch for easy viewing.

When trying to find the perfect place for your cat's litter box, this product is decorative yet creates a hidden place to store the litter box.

Lastly, use the red heart stickers that come with your pet's heartworm pill to keep reminders on your calendar. Keep the calendar on your refrigerator or set up a recurring event on your digital planner to make sure you keep your pet protected.

Secret to Delicious Hot Chocolate

Did you know you can add any liquid coffee creamer to hot chocolate to make your very own Starbucks flavored specialty drink? At Christmastime stores carry a wider variety of flavors including the mandatory French Vanilla and Mocha Peppermint.

Crockpot Recipes

Crockpot recipes are great anytime you want to save time but especially during the winter when a pot of soup or chili and beans will warm you up.

Crockin' Girls is a website created by Southern girls with lots of easy crockpot recipes. What makes this site special are the video clips to demonstrate each recipe, and the added bonus of recipes for side dishes and desserts.

Who Does What When?

Are you having trouble keeping track of your at-home job responsibilities? Is no one really clear about who is responsible, what the jobs are, and when they are to be completed?

We at Get Organized! have created a simple form with a list of a few household tasks. Review the list and decide Who Does What When.

Homemade Christmas Scent

Fill a large pot with water and place on the stove. Add two fresh oranges, two cut up lemons, cinnamon sticks, whole cloves, and allspice. Simmer on the stove for the most wonderful aroma that spreads throughout your home. An added benefit is the moisture it adds to the dry winter air.

Toddlers and Sippy Cups

You may have experienced an event where adults gather and keep track of their drink cups with markers or cup tags. When toddlers get together, sippy cups are the container of choice, and they often look alike.

A cool, new product is available to provide a way to identify your child's cup. The product is called InchBug Orbit Labels. The website offers a variety of colors and the ability to create a personalized phrase or name. The non-adhesive and reusable bands have a snug fit around your child's sippy cup so the toddler cannot remove it. Each order is about $13 and comes with 4 bands.
