Greetings!
There is always something to be excited about here at Get Organized! The Lord has blessed our company with great business and we are so thankful.
This month we started our 2nd annual "Don't Fall into Clutter" contest which will provide an individual that has lost their job and then started a home based business an office makeover.
No matter how new or small your home based business is, we'd love to hear your story of how you went from being bossed to "Being the Boss". See below for more details. There's only a few days left so get your entries in.
In this month's issue of our GO newsletter we are starting to think Christmas. In the next week or so you will be receiving even more great ideas on getting organized for Christmas, so you celebrate the Birth of our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, with an abundance of peace and good will.
As many of you know, each month Get Organized! has a Savvy Way to Save idea in our newsletter. We look for a savings site, a great coupon, a product that will save you money, and other finds we want to share.
This month's Savvy Way to Save is MyDFWMommy.com. I met with Laura Thornquist, creator of MyDFWMommy.com this month. Laura is featured twice a week on WFAA. We have teamed up to do some videos on organizing for the holidays and want to share them with our fans. Checkout our facebook fan page to see our videos as they are posted.

Company's Coming
So your In-laws are coming to town and you have a messy house, your guest room looks like a storage closet, and you have to take care of your life before you can even get to THE STUFF.
Too many things to do and not enough time seems to be your mantra. The reality is that we just add too much to our day, don't delegate, and don't manage our time well. You have to learn to say "no" and hand things off to others, even if it won't be done perfectly.
The other day a lady stopped me after attending one of my workshops on getting your household organized. We specifically talked about giving kids extra chores that either you do not have time to do or would rather not do yourself. At this time of year, it gives the kids a chance to earn some extra money. She was excited to tell me that just the day before she had her kids clean the entire house instead of her just doing it herself. She said with all the help it was finished in one day and her kids earned extra money that they can now use to purchase Christmas gifts.
If you are thinking her kids must be older.. you are wrong. They are of elementary age and were perfectly capable of handling most tasks around the home.
So if you are having company for the holidays, put a plan in place now to get the whole family involved in keeping your house in order.
Once your guest spaces are ready, here's a great tip to make them feel more at home. Leave a tray of snacks and bottled water in the bedroom for them to enjoy. They may feel uncomfortable digging in your pantry or asking for something to eat. Include fresh fruit, nuts, granola bars, and chocolate to create a stay they will remember. |
Sweet Potato Casserole
3 cups mashed sweet potatoes 1 cup sugar 1/2 tsp. salt 2 eggs, beaten 1/2 stick butter, melted 1/2 cup milk 1/2 tsp. vanilla 1/2 tsp. cinnamon Mix all ingredients and put in large, flat, buttered casserole.
Topping: 1/2 cup flour, 1 cup brown sugar, 1 cup chopped pecans, 1/2 stick melted butter. Mix topping ingredients and place on top of mixture in casserole. Bake at 350 degrees for 30 minutes or until bubbly. Makes a large casserole. |
The North Texas Kids Family Expo took place on Halloween weekend and it was a full house. Aisles were crowded with costumed children getting candy and participating in all the activities.
