Greetings ,
I get so excited about Valentine's Day. I'm a romantic ... and I'm always looking for ways to do something different and exciting for my husband.
One year, I bought him a glow-in-the-dark pillow case with red hot lips on it. As we were going to bed on that Valentine's night the lights went out and the pillow went on. :) So in honor of Valentine's Day, I've included in this month's newsletter a few creative dates, most I've actually tried myself.
Also, this month you can win a $10 Target gift card. All you have to do is forward this newsletter to one or more of your friends and your name will be entered into the drawing. The contest ends at midnight on February 28th. Winner will receive gift card by mail.
Finally, be sure to check your future e-mails from us... we are putting together a workshop.. that you'll want to attend.

Remember when you and your spouse used to try new things together: new restaurants, picnics in the park, driving around with no place to go?
I know... busy schedules with work and/or kids, often leave little time with your spouse. As tough as it may be to make the time.. just remember many divorces happen because often, someone at the office is willing to make the time, if you won't. Protect and nurture your marriage!
Some of you may be on a tight budget while others may not have access to childcare. Below are a few creative date ideas. There's sure to be something for everyone to enjoy.
Fix a smorgasbord of finger foods to eat while in the bathtub "together." Fruit, cheese, dips and appetizers. Light some tea candles around the tub and have romantic music playing in the background.
In the summer, get a bucket of ice cream and two spoons; then drive to the lake to see a sunset while sharing the ice cream.
Find something that you both want to learn together, then take lessons. Some ideas could be dancing lessons, scuba diving, cooking classes, swimming, sign language, photography, bowling, chess, karate or horseback riding.
Just remember, true love cares more about the other person than themselves. So what if you learn something you don't really care about. Remember... you're together, laughing, joking and creating memories, no matter what you're doing. |
Master List for Financials
When a loved one passes away, organizing the estate can be overwhelming. However, you can make times like these easier on the ones left behind by creating a Master List of all your financial information.
You can create a list on your computer, but when you're done be sure to print a hard copy. Also, any time you make changes to your Master List, you should print another hard copy.
Create a folder on your computer called "Master List." You can have a variety of subfolders under "Master List." A "Master List" for groceries, medication you or a loved one takes, a list of birthdays, etc.
For the sake of staying focused, create one folder to start with that says, "Financials." Here you will keep company/institution names, the names of account representatives, account numbers, and any other details that would be helpful upon your death or inability to manage your assets.
This list needs to include information on life insurance policies, certificates of deposit, stocks, accounts, safe deposit box information and other policies that you may manage for someone else and anything that deals with finances.
It's often a last thought for many individuals.. but a first thought for those you leave behind. |
Just Between Friends kids' resale will be having their next sale March 25-27, 2010, in McKinney. When cleaning out your kid's closets, save their gently-used clothing and earn some extra money...or just do some shopping. |

Internet Passwords
Have you ever tried logging on to a site and received an error due to an incorrect password or username?
Well, if at first you don't succeed; try, try again. So, after entering more incorrect passwords you decide to finally ask for help, or worse you get locked out.
Once someone told me, " I have all my passwords on my computer, so if I ever forget them I just look them up." Sounds good on the surface but what happens if your computer crashes and you can't look them up? Having a hard copy that is easy to update would be the real fix.
Another way to keep your login information organized and secure is to keep passwords on a Password Log Sheet. You can print one and keep all your passwords on one sheet. Or, if you have a lot of passwords you may want to print 26 log sheets. Yes, 26, one for each letter of the alphabet. Then place each log sheet in a clear protector sheet and keep in a small binder.
As a reminder, don't put the word, "Passwords" on your binder. Write something that won't attact attention... like, "Poison Control."

Organizing Tip -
Pack a paring knife for travel*, camping, etc. in a toothbrush travel holder. No one gets cut and it won't go through your bag.
*This, of course, cannot be in a carry-on bag if you are flying.

Lorraine Brock, founder of "Get Organized!" recently met with Christian author, speaker and professional counselor, Carol Floch. Carol shared with Lorraine her book "The Single Mom's Devotional" and about her journey from being a wife to being a single mom.
"While I am not a single mom," said Lorraine, "we often see clients that are having the same struggles that Carol mentions in her book. This will be a book that I recommend."
Carol's story is real and full of practial, godly advice. It will motivate single moms to trust that Jesus has everything totally in His control....even when our marriages fall outside of His ultimate will. | |

Removing a Splinter
Put a drop of Elmer's Glue on the splinter and let the glue dry. Then peel the dried glue off the skin.. hopefully taking the splinter with it.
If the splinter isn't too deep, this should work.
