| "Organized Life" December 2009 |
Even with many things going on in the month of December, the year is actually winding down. In just a few weeks, we will be in 2010 with a whole year of new possibilities and problems to tackle.
As a wife and mom with three boys still at home, I find the role that the father plays critically important to the lives of my boys. Not only for the men they will become but so my boys see a marriage that is truly devoted to each other.
Be watching for articles in 2010 focused on keeping the home fires burning, leadership in the home, father-son/father-daughter relationship builders and the importance of having a Christ- centered home.
Journey with us as we seek to help you get your home and your life organized and on track. Whether that's with your closet, your time or your relationships.

Family Coaching, What Is It?
One might say that Family Coaching is about the present and the future, where counseling is about the present and the past.
Coaching is about dealing effectively with issues and flourishing as a family or individual. These issues can be as big as relationship problems to as small as letting your family know that you're not their live-in maid.
Many times it's hard to hear the music through the noise. Family members all have a story to tell or excuse to give but no one is budging and nothing gets resolved.
Coaching sessions, with follow-up, help you stay the course when your wants and needs change in your family. It brings in a third party to see both sides and then adjust and direct the changes.
I recently had a gentlemen share that he and his wife were separated for the second or third time. He originally called wanting help organizing his garage but then after a few minutes, I realized that the cluttered garage was the result of something greater.
While his wife complained about the daily clutter he made, his uncaring attitude, and the lack of effort on his part; he took her request as nagging. The result was a marriage in trouble. Of course, this did not happen overnight but slowly the nails were being hammered in the fence post.
The fact was the husband did not know how to divide his time being a husband and a dad. Nor did he want to tell his kids to do chores or other work around the home. He abandoned his "Honey Do's" as well, leaving his wife alone to manage all the household tasks.
Family Coaching is key to moving forward. It's real and it's practical. You come away with advice, tips, and systems for each member of the family. Through coaching, it helps each person know his or her responsibilities, their roles, and how to implement them... so no one has an excuse.
Before you let your relationships suffer or spend months in counseling, consider taking a time out for your family to get some coaching. |

Savvy Ways to Save
This month's Savvy Ways to Save idea is about gift cards. During the Christmas season, many stores are offering bonus gift cards when you buy a gift card. For example, when buying a $25 gift card at IHop you receive a $5 gift card. So, if you're going to be spending money anyway at a particular store, buy a gift card first... then pay with that same gift card you just bought and voila! - you've made free money. Here are just a few stores that are doing the bonus gift cards: DSW Shoes, OUTBACK STEAKHOUSE, Red Robin and many more. |

When things are lost or stolen, or homes damaged or destroyed, most people receive insurance payments for only 80% to 85% of their loss. Most people can't remember everything they own at the time of loss. It doesn't make any difference if you own your own home or just rent. Having your home's contents inventoried is important.
