Cool Weather means... Fall Cleaning
 
Fall is in the air and so is the ragweed. So cleaning out your garage if you have allergies may not sound very exciting. While I can't help with your allergies, I can help with organizing your garage or attic. 
 
If your garage is packed to the ceiling with clutter or if it's been a long while sense you've cleaned your attic, let our team of organizers do the dirty work for you. 
 
Many times families keep their junk in the garage, while their second biggest investment, their means of transportation, sets outside in the elements. You may even have a storage unit that you pay a monthly fee for, costing you extra money each and every month.
 
Clutter does cost you, and even though you may not always see it, it actually does end up coming from your monthly budget.
 
This time of year is a great time to get that attic or garage organized. Any unwanted items can easily be taken care of through donations or garage sales. In fact, it is common for people to make what it would cost to hire an organizer during their garage sale, thus costing you little or nothing, and you get an organized space!
 
If you want to do it yourself make sure you zone off your garage before you start organizing. Always consider what will go where and in what will it be stored in? Think of how and how often you will use each item. Remembering to plan your space will insure you have items conveniently located.

There is a limit of two (2) entries per household. Entries may be submitted at different times during the contest.
Winners will be judged on how functional and useful the organizing tips are. Areas to consider for organizing tips include going green,  savings, practicality, ease, and creativity. 
 
The winners name and idea will be published in our monthly newsletter. All ideas submitted can be used freely by "Get Organized!"

There has to be an easier way to handle all of the emails we receive throughout the day. Lots of useful information passes through our inboxes, such as payment confirmations, advertisings, great ideas to try, and of course greetings from our friends.  
 
So what's an easier way to organize your emails so that you can easily retrieve important information when you need to? First, if you get a lot of information from one group or source you can set up an inbox specially for them. Which means all the outgoing and incoming emails for that group or person will be in its own inbox.
 
If you have a lot of general information that comes to your inbox, one single folder for organizing would not adequately suffice. Yes, you could do a search but that still takes time to funnel through all of the returned information. Consider instead making subfolders (such as A-F, G-L, M-R, & S-Z.) under one general folder. For example, if you enjoy gathering organizing ideas from many different sources, create a separate e-mail folder called "Organizing Tips." When an idea comes across your inbox that you like, rename the subject line to something you can remember and then place the topic in the appropriate sub folder. 
  
This tip narrows down and focuses in on the subject you're actually looking for, saving you from having to print all of those emails to file away. By doing this, your information is right at your fingertips as you Go Green and save paper.

Lorraine Brock will be hosting a workshop in Plano on Friday, October 23rd. She will be discussing organizing systems for those permanent stacks of papers that are always on your desk or kitchen counter tops.
 
Lorraine has often said, "Stacks of papers are just postponed decisions."  "Normally there's some sort of action that needs to be taken on each paper, but we have no clue where to put them so they just sit in stacks."
 
The focus of this workshop will be to discuss the papers that trickle into the average home and to discuss how to manage papers for an in home business. Questions such as what do you keep, how long do you keep it, where do you put it, and what systems will be used, will be answered to help get anyone organized.
 
The bonus of this workshop is that Lorraine will be discussing Time Management as well. It's hard to get organized if you don't have control of your time!
