Myofascial Release Practitioner Directory Information

I've created another patient handout for you to use in your practice. Most of you are familiar with a version of this stretch; one where you lie flat and bring your leg up and over to open the low back and hip. I use a variation of this stretch that allows your patient to grade the difficulty. My patients find this stretch helps to open the upper and lower trunk, back, and hip in a more tolerable fashion the the more traditional version.

Download this handout from the Archives Page of MyofascialResource.com and try it for yourself. You are free to reproduce this handout on your own letterhead.

Many of you may have already read this blog post I made recently. It has received quite a few comments, both on my blog, but on LinkedIn and Massage and Bodywork Professionals. As a Myofascial Release therapist, much of the information that I learned in physical therapy school has been proven to me as nearly useless. Others may disagree, as Core Strengthening certainly has its devotees. My issue is essentially the same with Pilates. Both can be very good means of strengthening, but both suffer flaws.

All of you know that the treatment of back pain requires a unique view of each patient's issues. Unfortunately, both core strengthening and Pilates frequently ignore the psoas.

Read my blog post and feel free to make a comment.
