Myofascial Release and Breast Cancer

October is Breast Cancer Awareness month, an issue near to my heart. I have had the honor of working with numerous breast cancer survivors and I wanted to share some information regarding this issue. "Helping to Relieve the Pain of Post-Surgical Breast Cancer with Myofascial/Craniosacral Techniques". This article speaks of the success that I have seen in my practice with the lessening of pain and the restoration of motion that can be achieved via Myofascial release treatment after reconstructive surgery. Patients report similar positive results from the pain or restriction of motion following lumpectomy type surgeries. To read this article, please refer to the Research page of my website, www.rochesterpainrelief.com, and click on article #82. I would encourage you to forward my Newsletter to any persons who you think may benefit from this important information.

Sitting and Back Pain

In the last issue, I presented information comparing a standard office chair with a stability ball. If you missed it, drop by my website to read the article. This issue I would like to present you with some views on sitting and back pain.

For many, sitting poses no problem at all. Sitting in any position for any length of time produces no ill effects. However, others are not so lucky, as sitting for even short periods can be painful. The pain may occur while they are sitting or when they try to get up to stand and walk. Many, many variables can create these conditions of pain, so trying to generalize regarding prevention can be difficult and misleading. Being aware of your options can create a huge shift in the pain that you suffer or avoid.
