| Berks County Conservation District
How will this affect my project?
Those of you with projects planned in Berks County should be aware that the Berks County Conservation District (BCCD) is in the midst of a major change. Due to the economy and the drop in development plans, the conservation district has suffered financially and can no longer continue its current level of operation. BCCD has already eliminated some positions and has until October 8, 2009 to restructure. Currently the final outcomeis not known. However, all E&S/NPDES projects will be processed as normal up to the October deadline. We will keep on top of all new developments and will inform you of any new information as we receive it.

PA Fish & Boat Commission Update
The PA Fish and Boat Commission (PFBC) will no longer be involved in Federal Threatened and Endangered Species reviews. The species involved include bog turtle, dwarf wedgemussel, northern riffleshell mussel and the clubshell mussel. This action will ease the PFBC staff workload and eliminate redundancy in project reviews.
Please note that the PFBC can still be involved with these species if any are found on the project site or if the assistance of the PFBC is requested. The US Fish and Wildlife Service will be responsible for the Federal species. What does this mean for you? Ludgate will now send Bog Turtle Studies to only one agency which should shorten the turn-around time for reviews. Some good news! |
