One of the most frequent questions we're all asked over the course of time is "what do you do"?  One of the many jobs of the marketing department, of course, is to provide a clear and concise message to the marketplace describing a company's value proposition - what it is, exactly, that Dryvit "does", and why it has value.

One of the most frequent questions we're all asked over the course of time is "what do you do"?  One of the many jobs of the marketing department, of course, is to provide a clear and concise message to the marketplace describing a company's value proposition - what it is, exactly, that Dryvit "does", and why it has value. We try to do this as creatively as possible, and in a variety of ways such as advertising, brochures, and our websites. And, of course, we try to do this in a way that sets us apart from our competitors.

So what is it that we do? We OUTSULATE buildings. Large ones, small ones, residential and commercials ones. New buildings. Old buildings.  You name it, if it's vertical, we can probably Outsulate it.

Dryvit truly benefits from having a brand that describes what it is we "do".  But to be most effective, we all have to use this terminology as frequently as possible, and refrain from other, generic descriptions, whenever possible.

You'll continue to see our OUTSULATION brand emphasized on everything we do in the future - on packaging, in advertising and promotions, at trade shows - highlighted by the new OUTSULATION logo created this past year.

Try it for yourself. You'll be amazed at how easy it is to explain "what you do".

Dryvit Achieves ISO 14001:2004 Designation
During 2008, Dryvit worked diligently to obtain ISO 14001:2004 certification for all of its US facilities.  Dryvit is the only member of the EIFS Industry Members Association (EIMA) to have achieved this distinction.  ISO 14001:2004 is the environmental management standard of the International Organization for Standardization (ISO).  The goal of this standard is to minimize the impact on the environment by manufacturing operations through compliance with strict guidelines set by ISO.  This standard fits well with Dryvit's philosophy to be "As Green as it Gets! ™"

Application
New Building Code
As we announced back in September 2008, the International Code Council (ICC) unanimously approved the code change for inclusion of EIFS into both the 2009 International Building Code (IBC) and the 2009 International Residential Code (IRC).  After 40 years, EIFS have its own sections in both codes.  This is a milestone for the EIFS industry in that it validates the use of EIFS with other code accepted claddings.  With the ringing in of 2009, each individual state now has the option to adopt this new Code.  Be sure to check with your local jurisdiction to see when they intend to adopt the 2009 Codes.

Architectural Wall Systems' "Dryvit Museum"-
Everywhere you look, it's Dryvit, Dryvit, and Dryvit!  New Jersey/ New York based Architectural Wall Systems (AWS); Distributor of Dryvit since 1991, proudly display Dryvit's many systems and finishes throughout their office.  In fact, Dryvit products are the first thing you see when you walk through the front door. This enables AWS to use the office as a showroom for all who walk through the door.  "From the bright, bold colors of Dryvit's newest finish, Reflectit™, to the various wall system cut-a-ways, the 'Dryvit Museum' serves as the trigger to start a conversation about Dryvit" stated John Campagna, president and representing Dryvit since 1982. "Our partners and employees are immersed in Dryvit every working moment. It's a great way to keep the newer products on the top of everyone's mind-from sales reps to contractors" continued John.

Dryvit applauds AWS for this great 'Dryvit Museum'.  Way to shine!

Looking for a quick recap of why Dryvit Outsulation® is the best wall cladding available on the market today?  Look no further. Dryvit has developed 4 flyers that tout the benefits of the systems - the greatest one being sustainability - and have made them available on the website.  The flyers are virtually identical; however, three have been tailored to a specific market:  healthcare, retail and hospitality.  The fourth is generic and can be used in any other market.  These flyers are ideal for use at tradeshows, as a direct mail piece and to email to potential clients.

The popular television show, Extreme Makeover: Home Edition, recently completed a home in Connecticut, a neighboring state to Dryvit's World Headquarters.  Due to its proximity to Dryvit and the fact that the home is located in the same vicinity as the home of Dryvit's 28-year veteran Field Service Manager, Al Zabbo, Dryvit donated time and product for the home.  As most of you know, the premise for the show is to raze the existing house and build a new one - all in one week.  The only way this could have happened using Dryvit products was to use one of our Rapidry adhesive/base coats.  By using this product for both applications, it allowed the wall to dry much quicker than with other products so that the finish could be applied and dry for the big "Move That Bus" reveal.

Panera Bread has a new look - and Dryvit's Reflectit™ helped to make it happen. This Arnold, MO location is sporting a new look - #255 Tin Man Reflectit over Ultrafil.  "This is our first Reflectit job," stated Dryvit distributor Mike Welch of Ceiling Supply.  "The project looks great, Panera Bread is happy, and we're hoping that they write Reflectit into their national specification soon," continued Mike.

Congratulations to Ceiling Supply on a terrific Reflectit project.  No matter how you slice it, Panera Bread looks great!  We will add this project to the Reflectit section of our Photo Gallery at www.dryvit.com.  Send us your photos so we can add them as well.

The Archetype Sustainable House
Dryvit Systems Canada and its Stratum Guard Systems II outsulating system was selected among a long list of options for use on the winning design for the Archetype Sustainable Housing project. Scheduled for Grand Opening in Spring of 2009, the project was a joint partnership between The Toronto Regional Conservation Authority and BILD (Building Industry and Land Development Association) and is meant to represent the future of sustainable and ultra-ecologically friendly construction.  The Dryvit System and its very low eco-footprint and highly effective thermal performance made it an obvious choice for a model of future ecological housing design.  The Dryvit team was heavily relied upon throughout the design, planning and construction phases of this project and looks forward to the years of information the ongoing monitoring of this project is going to provide.  The home will also be open to the public and trade wanting to learn more about sustainable construction.  More information on the project is available at www.sustainablehouse.ca. Please note that the absence of EIFS on the list of materials used is an error and is in the process of being corrected.

We all thank Bill for his many years of service and wish him good health and happiness in his retirement.

From the Emperor Penguin
Our time is NOW!

With construction spending rapidly declining many of you are worried about the future. We have been through hard times before but the inherent qualities of Dryvit Outsulation Systems have always pulled us through. Today we are better positioned than ever before! Outsulation Systems have become the standard of Building Insulation efficiency according to the US DOE.
Outsulation Systems are in the 2009 IRC and IBC. Outsulation Systems have more finishes that can replicate virtually any opaque cladding whether that is brick, concrete, limestone, granite, metal, or yes, even stucco.

For over two years, Dryvit has been working with lawmakers and regulatory agencies to make them aware that they can achieve National energy efficiency and environmental goals for buildings by using Outsulation Systems. The new stimulus bill racing through Congress will appropriate billions of dollars toward improving the energy efficiency of virtually every building type - including homes, schools, military installations, hospitals, and government buildings, for both new and existing buildings.

Outsulation Systems are the most cost effective way to dramatically improve the energy efficiency of an existing building, with little or no interruption to the occupants, and at the same time having the smallest environmental impact. Not to mention the building will look BRAND NEW at no extra cost.
