Carnival 2010 Frightfully Fun
Halloween Carnival a Spooky Success
Lower School goblins showed off their costumes on October 29 during Lakehill's annual Halloween parade. Kindergarten students led the procession down the main hallway and through the building, before proceeding to the gym for the Carnival. Parents, students, and faulty members lined the hallways to enjoy the procession.

This lively event, a long-standing Lakehill tradition, is planned and executed by parent volunteers from the Parent Faculty Club (PFC). The newly formed Dad's Club lent a hand with a scarier-than-usual haunted house. Seventh and eighth grade students organized some of their own games for the younger students and worked the booths.

Hundreds of students, family members, faculty, and staff enjoyed this year's event, complete with a cake walk, bounce house, and face painting. "We had wonderful volunteers and great participation," said PFC President Michelle Crow. "I especially want to recognize Colleen McCall and Elizabeth Ferguson, who did such a great job organizing the Carnival. Everyone had a great time."

Falls Brings New Opportunities to Serve Others

After the success of Lakehill's Community Service summer camps, a new club has been added for students in Lower School and in Middle School. The Club, called Community Connections, gives students the opportunity to engage in additional community service projects outside of school. Monthly events are held after school and on weekends and participation is on a sign-up basis.

MS Community ConnectionsIn October, Club members focused on helping homeless families with children, currently the fastest segment of the homeless population. Lower School club members made Cookie Jars to "Welcome Home" previously homeless families moving into apartments through Interfaith Housing Coalition. Middle School students spent a Saturday at Family Gateway, entertaining children with a variety of crafts and games while their parents attended a financial workshop.
