GDX.1 Classes Join Together for Leadership, Team Building, and Fun
The Warrior Way, Lakehill's leadership and mentoring program, is designed to build relationships across grade levels while promoting leadership and team building skills.

The program, now in its second year, got into high gear this week with three days of team building activities for students in Grades 7 through 12. Grades are paired together as teams to participate in a full day of leadership training and team building activities - including low and high ropes - at Group Dynamix, the nation's largest indoor team building facility. Grades 12 and 9 attended on September 29; Grades 11 and 8 attended on September 30; and Grades 10 and 7 attended on October 1.

Each team also planned a group community service project to be implemented in the fall. The 9th and 12th grade students are partnering with People Helping People to provide basic home repairs and yard maintenance to elderly and low income home owners. The team of 8th and 11th grade students are working with Austin Street Shelter, providing meals to the homeless population of Dallas. The 7th and 10th grades have committed to championing the White Rock Lake Shoreline Spruce-Up tradition started last year.

Other opportunities for leadership, mentoring, and community service will be provided throughout the year.

Jennifer Warder
Faculty Spotlight on Jennifer Warder
Jennifer Warder is Lakehill's new Upper School Math teacher. Warder received a BA in Mathematics from Texas Woman's University and earned her Texas Teaching Certificate. A professional both in and out of the classroom, Warder has combined business and teaching experience of 16 years. Her classroom experience includes teaching math and coaching for Keller ISD as well as teaching in Asheboro, North Carolina.

A custom software designer, Warder has held the position of Business Analyst and Project Manager in several industries and as a consultant. Warder finds many similarities between her professional career and her experiences in the classroom.

An avid reader and traveler who wanted to see the world, Warder spent a year in London working for a start-up company. During her stay in the UK, she was also able to travel to several countries in Europe. Her travels and varied experiences eventually led her to Lakehill.

"When I set foot on the Lakehill campus, I felt immediate peace," Warder explains. " I have never had that feeling during an interview - in education or in the business world." Warder is grateful for the kindness she has experienced during her first few weeks. "There is so much genuine affection and support here," she said. "Most importantly, Lakehill cherishes its students above all else, and this is something that I have not found elsewhere."

WarriorsWarriors Crush the Crusaders, 78-58
Lakehill Warriors team captains Mac Kelly and Harrison Boyd have big dreams for their senior year, both for themselves and for their team. Last Friday night, as the Warriors rolled to their fourth straight victory with Kelly and Boyd leading the charge, those dreams started to come true.

Kelly was unstoppable with over 400 yards of offense and eight touchdowns while Boyd racked up more than 200 yards of offense and four touchdowns in the Warriors 78-58 win over Balch Springs Christian. This was an extraordinary performance, even for the fast-moving, high-scoring six-man football Lakehill fans have come to love.

The Warriors are currently 4-1 overall and 4-0 at home. They play host to Health Fulton on Thursday, October 1 at 7:00pm. The Warriors will also celebrate Senior Night, a long-standing Lakehill tradition honoring the team's seniors. Kelly and Boyd will be honored - as seniors and as leaders - and for their contributions to this magical Warriors' season.
