Transformation!
In November and December, the weekly teaching at Flood centers around the truth that change is possible with the goal of inspiring those in attendance to make changes. Each week we have heard testimony from someone whose life has been completely altered by the transforming power of Jesus Christ. On November 14, 2009, over 30 Flood guests and volunteers shared their personal transformation with the crowd through "cardboard testimonies". On one side of the cardboard were words that described the former life and on the flip side were words of renewal and transformation that described the new life. The crowd roared with shouts of approval and cheers each time the cardboard was flipped!

Christmas Celebration December 19th!
First Presbyterian Church (H St. and Truxtun) will host our 4th annual Christmas Celebration on December 19. We do not publicize this special evening as it is a chance to bless families and individuals we are already building relationships with. Riverlakes will be providing the meal and the message. Calvary Bible will be providing desserts. Each guest will be given the opportunity to shop for one item. Many gifts are needed as we strive to bless about 450 guests. Gifts for men are most needed and we also need items for women and children. Ideal gifts for men include sleeping bags, flannel shirts, McDonald's gift cards, underwear, socks, and hooded sweatshirts.

The share life capital campaign continues through December 31, 2009. Please consider a year end donation to Flood.
Here is
some clarification on
the letter you may have received in the mail in November. The reference at
the conclusion of
the letter was that over 50% of every
dollar is given away
each month to meet the physical needs of those who are hurting and hungry in our
community. Through questions and
feedback, we realized this statistic did not accurately reflect
that over 95% of
Flood's operating budget supports the Saturday Night Outreach which includes
groceries, hygiene, bus passes, meals as well
as housing
assistance. In other words, 95% of what you give directly impacts the lives of
those we minister to weekly. We apologize for any confusion this may have
caused.
Financial
contributions make it possible for the weekly outreach to continue and for Flood
to intervene in the lives of those deeply hurting in our community. Please
consider a donation as part of your end of the year financial planning. We are
a 501(c)(3) organization all donations are tax deductible. Thank you for your
support!

2nd Annual Christmas Tree Lot Open
Our largest fundraiser, the Christmas tree lot, gives those who are having needs met by Flood a fantastic opportunity to give back. Each day volunteers from inner-city Bakersfield are transported from the Flood office to serve. Last night, Diane Anderson and Ryan Dorton had been working on the lot for 12 hours and they were both still smiling. In fact, they both were talking about coming again this morning. Working side by side is so valuable as we reach into the lives of those hurting in our community. Purchase your Christmas tree and help feed Bakersfield! The lot is located at the corner of River Lakes Dr. and Coffee Rd. across from Winco. All proceeds will go directly to purchasing food and hygiene packs for the Saturday Night Outreach! Beautiful trees under 8 feet, delivery, flocking and much more!
Sun -Thurs 9am-9pm Fri - Sat 9am-10pm Alpine Christmas Trees Riverlakes Dr. and Coffee Rd.
We need your help! In order for the lot to be successful we also need volunteers to work 4 hours shifts (9am-1pm;1pm-5pm,5pm-9pm or 10pm on Fri and Sat) Please come by the lot or call the Flood office 32-FLOOD (323-5663) to volunteer. This weekend December 4th, 5th and 6th will be the busiest days on the lot. Consider being part of the rush! Meals for volunteers are also needed. Preparing a meal for 10-12 people and delivering it at 1:00pm or 5:30pm.
