Greetings!
|

Non-profit organizations should be run like a business. That's a common belief shared by many in our community. The idea seems to be that our local charities should adopt the practices used by for-profit businesses so they would become more efficient. Yet if you take the time to look at how the charities of Door County actually operate, you'll quickly realize that they already use "business practices" because they are in fact businesses themselves.
Like any good business, our local charities are constantly looking for ways to improve their customer's experience. Following the 2008 season, the Peninsula Players sought to increase efficiencies in their ticketing system. Through the use of time studies, software upgrades and a reallocation of personnel, they dramatically decreased the cycle time of the purchase of a ticket and thus enhanced the experience for their customers. Similarly, the Peninsula Music Festival switched to a new point of sale ticketing system, not only making it easier for their audience to purchase tickets but also realizing a savings in personnel costs.

American Folklore Theatre Fund
|
The Door County Community Community Foundation is honored to be able to administer the American Folklore Theatre Fund.
The mission of American Folklore Theatre is to create, develop, and present professional musical and dramatic productions which will further the knowledge and appreciation of the culture and heritage of the United States. AFT is the only major professional theatre company in the United States that solely creates and produces original musicals. AFT has created over 40 shows that have been seen by hundreds of thousands at its pine-rimmed summer theatre under the stars in Peninsula State Park, its fall venues in historic Door County town halls, and elsewhere. Musicals by AFT writers have been produced by companies across the United States and internationally.
The Theatre is dedicated to maintaining standards of artistic excellence; celebrating and illuminating the human condition; reaching a large audience of all ages, including families; and fostering a humanistic work environment with adequate and appropriate emotional, financial and creative support for all those associated with us.
Please consider incorporating gift to this endowed fund in your estate plans. Speak with your attorney, accountant or other estate planning professional. Or contact the Community Foundation and we'd be glad to help facilitate your generosity
Many charities entrust the administration of their endowment funds to the Community Foundation.
It's a safe and responsible way to manage endowed gifts, long-term assets or operational reserves. The non-profit community also counts on the Community Foundation's planned giving expertise to facilitate gifts into their endowments. By aggregating these assets under the umbrella of the Community Foundation, economies of scale allow for a far more diversified investment portfolio and lower investment fees than any of the charities could achieve on their own.
