Giving Matters
Door County
Community Foundation
Greetings!

DCCF LogoA wonderful aspect of life in Door County is that there are plenty of things to do together as a family. My wife Cari and I have six kids from ages 4 to 17 - so we should know!

One of Door County's hidden gems for families is the American Folklore Theatre.   As a professional musical theatre company, they offer shows that are fun for people of all ages.  Our family enjoyed a recent performance of "Fishing for the Moon" so much that we returned the following weekend for "Lumberjacks in Love."

Although the kids have gone back to school and the season is coming to an end, the American Folklore Theatre is gearing up for their Fall Season.  You should check their schedule and attend an evening of fun sometime soon!

Environmental Fund Now Accepting Applications
ShorelineDoor County is blessed with an abundance of natural resources.  From our lakeshore to the wetlands, our orchards to the meadows, the open spaces and our rural roads - there is something about the beauty of this place that keeps us here or calls us back each year.

The Community Foundation's Environmental Fund welcomes grant applications from traditional environmental organizations that are working to sustain and preserve our environment.  We also encourage non-environmental charities to bring forth ideas on how they might incorporate an environmentally conscious perspective into their work.

Download the Environmental Fund Application and guidelines from the Community Foundation's website.  Applications and all supporting materials must be received in the Community Foundation's offices by Friday, September 12th at 4 p.m.  For more information, or for an informal assessment of your idea, contact Bret Bicoy at (920) 746-1786.
East Shore Industries

East Shore Industries, Inc. (ESI), located at 813 Rabas Street in Algoma, is a Northeast Wisconsin charity dedicated to assisting people with disabilities in obtaining their personal independence and employment goals. Each year ESI provides services to 115 individuals. These services include: day service, employment and training services, supported ESI Logoemployment and placement services, evaluation services, school to work transition services, and case management for adults with disabilities. The ESI service area includes Door, Kewaunee, Manitowoc and Brown County.

Like other non-profit organizations, ESI utilizes a variety of sources to help fund its programs. Those sources include money received through grants, the annual fund drive, special events, donations, memorials, and interest earned during its 2000 "It's All about People" Capital Campaign.

The funds raised during this campaign were set aside for future projects and needs and continues to grow each year. The monies are under the management of ESI's CEO, CFO and its Board of Directors who use the services of professional money managers.

East Shore Industries also entrusts the administration of its Door County endowment to the Door County Community Foundation. The Community Foundation aggregates the endowed assets of many Door County charities and family foundations, collectively investing them as a larger, more diversified pool.  The Community Foundation also facilitates complex gifts and estate gifts to charities that serve our region.

To learn more about how you can incorporate the East Shore Industries endowment as a beneficiary in your estate plans, contact ESI at (920) 487-3541, or Bret Bicoy at the Community Foundation at (920) 746-1786.
The Door County Community Foundation, Inc. is a collection of separate charitable funds set up by individuals, families, non-profit organizations, private foundations and businesses that are managed, invested and disbursed for the current and future good of Door County.
