| Greetings! |
Last week my wife and I were privileged to attend the season's opening concert at the Birch Creek Music Performance Center. What began over 30 years ago as a simple program with just 12 students has blossomed into a renowned summer music academy. Birch Creek now brings together more than 100 dedicated instructors to nurture the talent of over 200 young people each year. It's a true community treasure and I urge you to consider attending one of their 32 concerts this season.
But perhaps one of the most wonderful things about Birch Creek is that it is not an exception. Ours is a County blessed with countless organizations that enrich our community with music, celebrate the arts, and sustain our natural beauty.
At the Community Foundation, it's our role to introduce you to all aspects of the charitable world - from the arts to the environment, from education to human services.
We hope you'll join with us and help sustain the quality of life we all love.

| Community Foundation's Arts Fund Now Accepting Proposals |
|
The Door County Community Foundation's newly launched Arts Fund is now accepting grant applications from charities that serve Door County.
The Community Foundation has created several new Grant Cycles, each focused on a different issue important to Door County. The entire program will be announced at our annual Celebration of Giving on July 16th. Please visit our website for the latest information and application forms in late July.
However, in an effort to get started for the season, the Community Foundation has publicly announced the first of its new initiatives, the new Door County Community Foundation's Arts Fund.
The "arts" describe a broad range of creative activities which can stimulate thought and inspire the soul. Therein is the purpose of the Community Foundation's Arts Fund.
The Community Foundation's Arts Fund will support creative charitable activities in Door County that use the arts to enrich our community and touch the lives of the people of Door County.

| Midsummer's Music Festival Celebrating 18th Year |
For 18 seasons, Midsummer's Music has brought the best of classical music for small ensembles to residents and tourists alike. The first season in 1991 consisted of five concerts in June. Now, in 2008, Midsummer's Music presents 30 events a year. They have built a broad range of outstanding musical offerings across the entire year, which has enriched the community. Several years ago Midsummer's Music planning and financial projections made it clear that ensuring the financial and artistic viability of the organization for decades to come would require funding beyond that achieved by ticket sales, annual contributions, and grants. They recognized the need to be able to sustain the organization through the normal ebb and flow of seasonal conditions. Midsummer's Music must also remain competitive in attracting the kind of world-class musical talent that has distinguished Midsummer's Music. And they need to ensure strong artistic leadership as it continues to mature. This analysis led to the establishment of the Midsummer's Music Endowment Fund. Part of the income from this Endowment Trust, combined with their traditional income sources, will insure that Midsummer's Music will forever be a vital element of the Door County community. Principal will be preserved and grown. The Midsummer's Music Endowment Fund is administered through the Door County Community Foundation, Inc. "Partnering with the Community Foundation was the logical choice," says Kathleen Pearson, Executive Director of Midsummer's Music. "Through this partnership we are able to assure donors that funds entrusted to the Midsummer's Music Endowment Fund will remain in the local community forever. The funds will be managed, administered and overseen by Door County residents who are already acting as prudent managers for substantial segments of the county's current philanthropic assets."
The Door County Community Foundation aggregates the endowed assets of many Door County charities and family foundations and collectively invests them as a larger, more diversified pool. The Community Foundation also facilitates complex gifts and estate gifts to charities that serve our region.
To learn more about how you can incorporate the Midsummer's Music Endowment Fund as a beneficiary in your estate plans, contact Midsummer's Music at (920) 854-7088, or email the Community Foundation at bret@doorcountycommunityfoundation.org or call (920) 746-1786. |
| Career Opportunity: Administrative Assistant |
The Community Foundation is currently accepting resumes for the part-time position of Administrative Assistant. The Administrative Assistant provides administrative support for the Foundation as directed by the President. This position plays a critical role in facilitating the work of the organization. The Administrative Assistant must excel at customer service as this person has extensive contact with the Foundation's various constituencies and the public at large. The Administrative Assistant is also the central conduit through which the Foundation communicates its business transactions to the Foundation's accounting service. Thanks to the incredible generosity of the people of Door County, the Community Foundation will launch several new grant programs in 2008, the first of which was recently announced to the community. The Administrative Assistant will play an integral role in making all this important charitable work possible.
